Combining the Firespray and Shuttle in the same squad

I am looking at the following.

Omicron Group Pilot, FCS, Gunner, Engine Upgrade (32)

Bounty Hunter, Ion Cannon

Set up the two Space Bovines on either edge and swing them in to support with cross fire. The BH is used to defend the backside of which ever shuttle is exposed.

In every game I've had a rebel captive I wished I had a recon specialist. In every game I've had a recon specialist I've wished I had expert handling.

It's a tough balance. It really is match up specific. Bwings- captive and expert handling. Swarm, recon and PTL.

yeah. i can relate to this. at present im using rebel captive + expert handling on Kath (Scarlet Cowgirl) but im wondering if recon specialist would be better than rebel captive? i know pairing expert handling with recon. specialist seems counter productive - as u can only choose to use one, not both at the same time but they are good in different situations - recon specialist lets u get some extra defense when u need it and can help on attack at the same time but expert handling can set up some nice attacks with ur firespray and can get u out of trouble by dodging arcs... it would be nice to have the choice of using either option on the same ship.

i wonder how this variation will run...

I was thinking about this one too. I'm worried about the lack of nimble support craft, but I may be wrong. Plus destroying my own shuttles is anathema to me. :)

Whelp I got together an impromptu tournament in my area yesterday. My local game shop ordered 23 wave 3 game kits, so all you really need to run a tournament is 4 players and 20 bucks. We've been snowed in around here so I called the Cabin Fever Impromptu tournament. luckly we managed 8 people so it was pretty fun. I hadn't managed a wave 3 tournament kit yet so I was missing stress tokens.

I ran the 4th Variation of my Lambdaspray squad

Kath+EH

Doomshuttle

3x Academy

I went 3-0 and won. I faced:

Chewbacca w/ EH, Nien, Gunner, MF title

2x Blue w/ adv sensors

Howl w/stealth, Swarm

4x Obsidians

Doomshuttle

Blue

Rookie

Gold w/ ion

2x Prototypes

All three were really slugfests and close. Most enemies chose to go after Kath (I flew her agressively early to take shots and then used EH and Evade to arc dodge the rest of the game), but I never lost her. EH on Kath was the MVP of keeping the enemy from scoring points and facing the wrong direction. I'm more comfortable with the Doomshuttle and it died every game, which it is supposed to do. Game 2 was definitely the closest with kath having 3hp left. My opponent killed 2 ties and the shuttle and I did the same to him. Luckily his ties were Howl and an Obsidian where mine were two academies. Modified win by 11 points at time.

It's funny while i'm 3-0 with this list I don't feel strong with it like I do my Shuttleswarm lists or even the other Lambdaspray Variations I've flown earlier. Need more practice, but this list type might be what I fly for Farmageddon round 1.

I think this is the better option if you wanna go with 2 shuttle/ 1 firespray this way your entire herd is mobile and the BH has some defence which is needed for I can see him being the early target

wave4 might help this squad... tie-phantom looks nice as a flanker to replace those 2x academy pilots maybe.

I'll be honest, I didn't really put much thought into this beyond "can i get to 100 points with two ships". Might be fun to tinker with this though.

You cannot have Recon Specialist and Gunner on the same Firespray. That requires 2 crew slots.

I didn't run my Worlds Shuttle Swarm at Farmageddon and I regret it.

I'm gonna run Buzzsaw Shuttles this month to give them a go more than the twice I've run them. I hope some of you will finally run some Dogfighters to see what a crazy fast/mobile shuttle feels like.

yeah i feel the same. with so many topics on wave4 the current wave is sorta getting ignored.

wave4 is a looong way off actually hitting stores.

back on topic - im testing Scarlet Cowgirl with intel agent this weekend - im 98% sure its the squad im playing in 6wks time at a local tourney - im expecting lots of rebel squads so i think it will b a gd choice.

Have you tried the three tie variant yet? I'm currently undefeated with it... it takes skill with EH and is nerve wracking to have Kath run around with half her hitpoints for most of the game, but has been very effective each time.

As for the 3 TIE variant, I haven't tried it. It's not really my style as I don't like destroying my own shuttles after working so hard to keep them alive. :) The 2 TIE versions work best for me.

I Have run this list twice over the weekend and had good success with it.

Boba with expert handling, gunner & proximity mine

Sable's buzz saw with vader

Backstabber

Backstabber hangs out to rear guard the shuttle. Boba goes straight in, shuttle in from the side. Boba drops the prox and k turns or barrel rolls next turn. I had the shuttle get in position and stop. Between fett behind, the shuttle on their flank, asteroids and a prox mine, 2 bwings had a real bad day. On the reset, Backstabber kept them busy and let the shuttle turn. I lost fett, and ultimately lost Backstabber to bad flying and bad dice, but the shuttle wasted the last bwing handily. The only damage it took was from vader. So far, I am liking this list. May sub in intel agent for Vader.

Yeah, intel agent is a brilliant little card (when you remember to use it). The more points you put Vader on, the worse that trade is. On a naked shuttle, it's painful to lose 24 points, but survivable. When you get to the 35 point range... that's not a good trade. Especially since the Shuttle does so much damage already with the buzzsaw setup.

Hey bomber, I run gunner on firespray with EH. Put Intel on the shuttle. Then you have both available in the same round. Just a thought

Has anyone "mathwing'd" the buzzsaw set up vs. straight focus? Just seems like something that needs doing.
