Any mutterings about the standard format movibg to 150 points? I heard an upcoking regionals will be 150 not 100 points.
150 point the new 100 point?
I love 150 points. I have a 6x4 table that we use though, so 200 points fits well on it. 150 makes some great squads. No one has tried the 12 tie swarm yet though.

for "official" 150 pt games, do they increase the time at all?
hmmm interesting, could this be to push support ships?
I hope so. Support ships are not that viable in a 100pt squad, but at 150pts they work really well.

Oh sweet Jeebus my planning phase takes long enough with 7 TIEs….

tbh if they allowed 150pts at tourneys id think a ship maximum might be needed. 12 Academy Pilots? that would take 10mins to just set them up, add planning and movement then action taking... you see where this is going.
I used to play 150pt games, they are fun because yes you can make some awesome list but you are looking at a hour to hour and a half game. that's why I went back to 100pts shorter list, shorter games
If you like a longer game or two then it's really not an issue. I don't get to play all the time or anything, so a longer game is fine with me. Besides, larger battles feel more epic. =D
if that were truly the case, i'd need to buy more interceptors and three packs of imperial aces rather than 2 when they come out... i really hope it's not the case, my wallet is tight lately
seems to me it would have to be at least 90 minutes plus a limit of like 2-3 copies of a given generic pilot (so you could play a tie swarm, but only 2-3 academies 2-3 obsidians etc). By "forcing" you to use 4 skill piolts etc, it would at least cut down on how many oyu could run by 1-2, cause you would be a **** fool to run 12 academies. 11 academies + howlrunner = 150 points exactly, and just happens to be the squad that won the escalation tournament at worlds. Also the tournament floor rules right now suggest a 75 min time limit for a 100 point game, with the clause that it could be adjusted to 60 or 90 minutes already.
I love the idea of having more room to manuever with points (no pun intended) and explore support ships like the shuttle ( besides omnicrom pilot + vader) and have it be more competitive, but these are two big hurdles to clear.
It's kinda scary to think of these larger regional tournaments with these long rounds. I love FFG to death, but if there is one thing they are not great at, it's running these huge events. Granted the regionals will still be run by gaming stores (who may be even worse at it), but the nationals tourney at Gencon went on for 17 HOURS!! till 4:30 in the morning once the final match was done. What would this do to nationals/worlds? FFG needs to take a page from the book of other companies in the past running similar events, and at the very least, have their top 16s etc be on a seperate day from the swiss rounds. It has always baffled me how they think running it all in one day like that is acceptable.

Dude, our 150 pt games last like 3 hours.

i can see that happening regularly if you're running tie swarms because that's a lot of ships to think about and position right; making your turns take 2-3 times longer than normal due to that
but if your lists are not crazy big full of ties then i think an hour and a half is an acceptable time frame to get 150 point games done
Also, it doesn't matter how long a 150 points game goes during friendly game, on tournaments there will be a time limit, so everybody has to try to be as fast and efficient as the y can be. If that makes playing 12 TIEs impossible so be it, no other "artificial" limitation on number of ships etc needed then.
150 would be nice, and anything between 90 and 120 minutes should be ok.
150 points maight actually be the solution to some complaints about having luck determine to large part of the game.
The more more dice that are rolled, the more avarge be they.
I like a limit of 100pts on any one ship type and upgrades when running 150pt at tournament.

Yeah, i tend to run swarms. I've gotten very good at maneuvering them.

yes and no
in theory the larger the point battles the more crucial pilot skill becomes, as the numbers go up the more ships you can kill off in a single turn of fire; leaving your opponent with lower pilot skills with a few less ships to shoot back at a larger point gap of ships which only increases the longer the game goes on (yes i know the tie swarm won it but it's still a new format and i think it will eventually pane out to this)
i think 100 points is fine but i'm happy to see the odd 150 point game here and there, i just don't want it to be a regular thing

I've not found this to be the case at all.. Swarms seem to do just as well at 150 as at 100.
Confirmed today the regional qualifier will be 150 points but the points were not set by FFG. Should be interesting!
I ran two practice games yesterday. First I ran a 3 so Rebel build vs Vader, a mix of 5 TIEs, and a bounty hunter. I fielded a loaded up Han, Ten, and Ibatism. Han killed Howrunner on turn 1 (Han indeed shot first!). The 2 B-wings with auto blasters just tore everything up. I did not lose a ship.
Second game my opponent ran the danger list add Adobe and I ran a 8 TIE swarm. All the named pilots with stealth plus a few gomers. Howlrunner had squad leader and Mauler had expose. This game ended with Vader alone facing 5 TIES.
Im posting on my cell but I have a few classic pics I will post later.
I'm not a fan of going over 100. Having a bunch of ships fire on a single target in a dogfight is already kind of weird and just an inevitable result of playing on an essentially 2D plane. Increasing the number of ships just makes this happen more often
I guess if you wanted more of a wargame then 150 might be your thing but I'm more interested in how the game plays with fewer ships on the table
if ur playing 150pts or more i think 'staggering' your reinforcements and having ships in reserve would work - some friends in my playgroup are working on 'trench run rules' for a scenario and losing ships lets you bring in reserve ships from a predetermined 'spawning' zone. The imperial player will have virtually unlimited reinforcements, rebels will be limited and possibly be deployed in pre-determined 'wings'
This sort of rule limits the actual number of ships u have in the game all at once and should make thing run more smoothly. It might be something the Epic rules will cover once the new capital ships hit stores.
