How about a 1:72 scale game?

By Millennium Falsehood, in X-Wing

Hey, Fine Molds has the YT-1300 and Firespray, too. In fact, I think they have everything except the HWK, B-Wing, A-Wing and Lambda.

that's funny i posted this very same topic in board game geek!! the problems i see would be the COST 30-40 bucks for an X or Y wing.. and the Melimum falcon!!! talking like 400!!! but OTOH I was thinking it would be cool to use my yard as the play area!! My house could be a Starship, with my garages being launch bays... driveway could be death star trench.. lol

Bases in 1:270 are 1.6inches.

Bases in 1:72 would be 6 inches.

The 3x3 area should become 11.25 x 11.25.

Range 1 comes from 4 inches to 15 inches.

Two ships a side would be a riot for home play :-)

Check out Mustangs & Messerschmitts.

There's a lot more to minis gaming than GW, WotC and FFG. (The mini is a place-holder because figure scale and ground/space scale are so out of whack with each other, hich is why FFG's collision rules have no place in a serious game)

Only one technical hitch with a 9' x 9' table - reaching the middle of it!

You'd definitely have to play on the floor. A 144th scale game might be more feasible, not to mention a great deal cheaper. Gonna need more than one person to man the firing templates.

Well, my paycheck should be in the office today. I think I might have to get an X-wing and a couple TIE Fighter kits and see just how viable this idea is. :)

Also, if one didn't want to buy the Finemolds kit, this 1:48 paper model is excellent (just print it at the appropriate size):
