Pirates Tourney Squad

By Englishpete, in X-Wing

Our local group are hosting a Pirate Tourney on the 1st Feb.

Rules are

No named Pilots

No Unique Upgrades

One only of each ship type

No faction restrictions

100 pt squads

I fancy this set up. The Saber and the Space Cow fly in one wing, the two rebel ships in the other looking to split the opponents force.

Any thoughts on viability?

Personally, I would change the Rookie Pilot to a GSP with PTL so the Saber Squadron Pilot has a wingmate, but I tend to try to fly ultramaneuverable when possible.

We're doing something similar on the second and I've been edging toward two builds. I'm hoping to test them some before the event in order to choose.

A buddy and I are hosting this same type of thing at our LGS. Our rules are essentially the sane, except we do not have limits of ship types because we frequently play games >100pts. The pirate faction has shown up with some interesting models and stats. As long as both players are okay with non-official ships/stats, all is go. Yesterday the pirates played an armed senator's shuttle with ion turret, a tye- wing, and two DX9s with HLC. It was a close game, but the imps won.

Interesting idea to use the Green over the Rookie. I might try that out.

I swapped out the Rookie for a Green with PtL. It is a very efficient squad. The speed of the Int and A make for great flankers and the B-Wing and Space Bus hit like a ton of bricks.

The Space Bus in this set up is quite astonishing.

We played against.

Firespray with Recon Spec and HLC

Recon Operative with Blaster Turret and Recon Spec

Dagger Squadron with Adv. Sensors and HLC

All three of my opponents ships went down for the loss of none of mine.

The Space Bus lost all its shields and the A-Wing was on 1 Hull Point.

Now, my dice were hot on attack, but the squad performed very well.

Congratulations! I'd have felt really bad if that GSP hadn't worked out lol
