Great pics! We game at the FLGS, so while I do have some photos, it's not too much to look at. However, there are two tables. Ourselves with our EotE, and a table in the other room running D&D Next. It's a weekly Wednesday free RPG night, and the store owner is gaming with us.

I do have some long term plans to create a game den, but life is in the way, so I have to wait.

I will say that large or small, grandiose or spartan, anywhere you can get together with friends and tabletop it up, is a swell place to be. *feels*

I'm not sure if this is the sad thing or not, but this is not even my Star Wars collection... the insides of those walls are cabinets filled with boxes of my collection. Action figures, vehicles, play sets... I am a huge fan of the Clone Wars cartoon and literally have all the action figures and battle packs, and most of the vehicles. I have quite a few autographed action figures from the voice actors I have met too. I also have two full sets of stormtrooper armor I need to get on display. We have only lived here for about 8 months so I am still trying to get everything set up.

But I have to agree with Ployheadronman, anywhere you can get together with friends and game is awesome no matter what!!!

It's about the time you can spend with friends, sharing a great story and having a great time. Nothing against the skype/internet games, but long live the in person table top games!!

I have to buy from the internet and go through meetup becuase there's nothing around where I live anymore. Ok I'll join in. I GM a game, and currently I play in two games. The first of the two I play in, is through meetup.com with a bunch of strangers. This is was taken today during the third session of ours. We're finally getting into the swing of things so things are finally starting to come together.

My chair is the vacant chair as I was the one taking the photo. The game store is Game Goblins located in West-Little Rock, Arkansas.

I might end up taking a picture of my gaming set up next weekend since I will be running the next session then.

my games are done over skype and roll20 with hangouts which work fine since i can lay back in bed and relax and play my games. But I have one game thats right after my paintball practice so i have to show up all sweaty and all exerted.....so sexy amirite? wish i could find people in my area that played but not that lucky i guess.

I didn't get drawers because they hold you away from the playing area. Mine is a regulation 4'x6' playing area but my leaves are width wise, and 1' at each end can be placed back. As GM my foot is the GM screen books and stuff. The other players just use the playing surface.

I have also played miniature games where the ends are each players papers, and the middle is a regulation 4'x4'.

The whole hidden surface is the bomb. I can just cover it up, and come back to it later. Or this week I spent a day redrawing Raxus Prime maps for the next session tomorrow (Sunday). Or play another game on top! The only down side IMO is that it's big... Really big. It was the little missus who insisted on the big table. It's our spare for thanksgiving and such. But the moment the missus said I could get the table, the cheque was wrote....

man Roll20 is really taking off. I also GM my games there. SO jealous of these photos though! Would love to experience GMing a game like that, will have to try throwing together an in person game and take pics.

I did play in a pathfinder group a few months ago, but a player and myself did not get along too well, so I left the group. I would like to be a player again, but I love the GM chair too much to give it in favor of just playing. Also, I can be a little take over-ish in games.

I live in Germany so the time difference to America is crazy even if I wanted to try it.

I like being the GM, but sometimes I need to scratch my player itch. The 2nd game is over roll20 and only had one session so far so it's too soon to give a fair assessment of that game.

As for the game depicted in the picture. I contacted them the evening before the first game telling them that I was a GM but looking to find a game where I can be a player. I found out what kind of niche's that I could feel and decided to roll up a doctor.

When I first showed up they were really pleased. All of them was new to the system, even the GM, and they were happy to have someone on board who knew the rules well. I'm kind of a rules nerd so I'm glad the GM doesn't mind when I pop in with a rules clarification. I told him that he can run the game as he wishes, so if all my interruptions bother him than he can tell me to shut up. He doesn't seem to mind as it is helping him learn the system.

As far as the differences. I prefer my game more, only because I tend to have good parts roleplay and good parts structured encounters. And my players are comfortable with one another to get into the roleplaying.

I'm having fun as a player in the game above, but there's not a whole lot of roleplay. That bothers me a little, but we are all strangers to one another still with different gaming backgrounds, so it's not unusual.

It's not bad. All the other people in the store doing their own thing aren't as distracting as you might think, but all the shiny board games, war games, and other products lining the shelves are a huge distraction for me.Luckily my character kind of sits in the background anyway.

Anyways, every Wed. is RPG night, as I said earlier. We start at 6pm to keep down on traffic, and because most of us work, anyway. Then we go until 9pm, and that's it for another week!

I would obviously love to spend more time gaming, but with my band and family and work, that's all I can manage right now. Also, nobody in our group has a useable private residence for our gaming, so it all works out!

I live in a small town (16,000 I think), so the store is small. It's called Game On! and it's in Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada.

Mostly, the store exists because of the M:tG community, but we do have some savvy board gamers in the area, so the owner gets a lot of custom ordering business. Most people in our area feel the isolation of a small town economy, so we like to keep some of our money in town, although we do have Walmart and Home Depot and some other big box franchises.

Anyways, if you're ever in the area, stop in! Check first to make sure it's still open, though... *fingers crossed*

As promised, yesterday was game day so I snapped a few pictures of the set up before everyone showed up. Sadly I live in a 2 bedroom apartment so I have no cool den or basement that I can devote to gaming. The living room has to do.

Yeah. If they were my regular dice set, it would have all the maximum values face up so all the weight in the dice settle at the bottom. Gamers and their silly dice rituals and superstitions, right?

Personally, I've been told to alternately boil or freeze my dice when I get them to show them who's boss. My current personal theory is the Dice Fairy can only inhabit one set of dice at a time, and I have to guess which set that is. But having multiple sets for her (naturally it's a her) to live in makes her happier, which makes my rolls better.

I have been known to microwave badly performing dice. Only about 4 or 5 seconds, tops, then I toss them back into the dice bag. You know...as a warning to the others.

No, I don't think it makes sense, either.

It doesn't make any sense. Gamers seem weirdly prone to these strange superstitions about luck, karma, dice hate/love, etc... I find it really funny given that most dice at a table aren't rolled often enough for them to roll "average". I played with my various D20s to see if they were off from the expected/variance values and it took over 400 rolls of each die to get the power of the stats high enough to find that they were rolling pretty average (less than .01% deviation from expected norms after 400 rolls each). So, given that amount of rolling vs the, say 20 rounds of combat, means that I use the dice less than 100 rolls a game (skill checks, attacks, random BSing) and so I'd expect to see "streaks" of low or high values, bounces to extremes (rolling 1s and 20s more), sudden falling to the "middle", etc... as they aren't being rolled enough to be "average" each night.

My group hates me for all the "crits" that I roll in games (currently a Ranger in a Pathfinder game), but then, I roll a d20 8-10 times each combat round right now, when I bother to roll at all. So, one roll a round coming up 19 or 20... falls right on the "average" curve (10% chance of rolling a 19 or 20). I'm also the biggest fumbler in the party (roll lots of 1s when I roll) for the same reason.

For games like EotE or D6 Star Wars, rolls tend to be a bit more towards the "middle" as more dice are added to a pool as the variances from the mean for each die starts to counteract each other.

I find the most prevalent superstition amongst gamers is the Gambler's Fallacy. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people try to "roll all the 1's out" before using their favorite d20. Heck, I have a friend who used to do the same thing electronically when we played D&D using MapTools. Whenever he fumbled, he'd hit the dice macro a bunch of times until good numbers came up

The guys in my new group didn't like the idea of sharing the dice. They all said they were going to buy their own. I told them they could but explained how "share" them at the table. A few didn't like the idea, but they are coming around to idea. The old ideas and superstitions are fading away!
