According to Kotaku.com Disney is giving Pixar a chance to tell a Star Wars story. I can see it now Wave 4 will be X-Wings and Tie Fighters with eyes in the windshields!!
Pixar Joining In The Star Wars Fun
Makes sense... they've got Cars, Planes.... X-Wings?
TIE's are already nicknamed "Eyeballs" so i expect a "mike wazowski" looking thing with TIE fighter panels strapped to it's head.
I could even see an Star Wars X-Wing Jr game featuring characters from the Pixar film.
I am not sure what to think about it yet. Guess have to wait and see if they really do a pixar star wars film and watch it. But yeah I can also see fighters with eyeballs and such. So would the Death Star have one big eye that shoots a laser beam out of it or what?
Every Pixar film I've seen, (and I've got 2 kids, so I've seen alot), has been absolutely fantastic. They Do indeed make quality films, and I'm sure Star Wars will be no different.
Can we see Repaints coming? The picture hits 75% of the released ships which i think is pretty cool! My favorite of these ships being the Bomber.
Awwww.. but that shuttle is so cute with his lil hat... haha.. I noticed no squint or hawk.. will be interesting to see what they do with this..
Think the Squints would probably appear to look like perpetual "squinting angry
eyes
eye"
A old tramp frieghter called Marcone Falcone is going to be sold for scrap. With the help of his friends he has to complete the Kessal run in under 12 parsecs to prove he still has what it takes.
Disney Pixar's Cars; in spaaaaaaaaaaaaace
I like the Slave I, looking like Fett's helmet. Clever.
No repaints....all the eyes will be stickers lol
I like Pixar but I don't think its a good fit for Star Wars, it'll come of cheesy like Jar Jar Binks. If they do an animated story then I would prefer something like this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGl6r5tQYPM .
Or even something more in the style of the old Space Battleship Yamato anime
I don't see an issue with a more fun family based film really, back in the day we had Droids and Ewoks.
I'm not at all against this. I am concerned with Star Wars becoming more and more diluted with new films every year, but if the films are strong and tell good stories then I am fine with it. Pixar has generally put out VERY good films. Some of their more recent outings haven't been as consistent but I trust them.
And if they aren't all that good, I still have the OT and can just pretend the others don't exist. Kind of like i do already with the prequels lol.
Though the prequels aren't amazing, they were never going to be as good as we hoped. A lot of the EU around them is really good. Just finished Republic and thoroughly enjoyed it (far more than any of the graphic novels based on the OT), I also very much liked Clone Wars.

I enjoy the Clone Wars as well. I think the best thing about the prequels are, like you said, what came from them. (Video games, tv shows, storylines, oh and Mr. Plinkett's fantastic review of them over at redlettermedia.com)
Here's the link for the article, not much info, but seems trustworthiesh.
I think it's more likely to be in the style of Wall-E than Cars. I think it'll still have normal sentient beings as characters, and won't break the core universe open. My guess would be droids as the main characters.

In general Clone Wars was a good show, it had its flaws and i hated the character designs but as a whole i enjoyed it
I can see why some folks are expecting a "Cars" version of Star Wars, but Pixar is known for so much more than that. We might see some Pixar animated short films while we build up to the live-action feature-length stuff. Although, much of the new Star Wars films will be digital animation anyway, so Pixar may replace or work alongside Industrial Light & Magic on the feature films.
I want Pixar to do the new Star Wars TV Show. I would prefer if the characters were people (or even droids) but I would probably watch it if it was from the point of view of the ships.
Actually imagine retelling the original series (with some adaptions) from the point of view of the ships. You could probably do all three movies in one.
