Is there mention of the wound thresholds for objects in the CRB? Or how would you handle breaking down a durasteel door?
Object wound threshold?
If I place a literal door in the path of the party, then they probably have multiple "tools" to overcome it. So I personally don't worry about how many hit points a door has. Looking through the manual I don't see a stat line...you could maybe pull something together by using some armor and hull trauma as an example.
I agree, but the party is split right now so the ones encountering the door will not have their mechanic with them. I was thinking of giving the door a Wound/Hull Threshold and Soak/Armor rating, but just wanted to make sure I am not missing anything official.
No, a door doesn't have a Wound Threshold.
However, getting through a door is no problem. A Computers check might open the door for you. A Mechanics check might let you pull it off the hinges (or whatever space door's use as hinges) An Athletics check might let you kick it in, but if it's durasteel that is going to be one hell of a check.
Alternatively, one of the social skills might let you Charm or Deceive someone inside into openning the door for you. Maybe Negotiate with the janitor. You slip him a few credits and he might "forget" to lock that door this evening.
Don't give it WT and Soak. Just make it single Athletics check with whatever difficulty you think is appropriate. Otherwise they are just wailing away on a door until it yields. That's pretty lame since it's going to eventually get to zero. Make it a single roll. Either they succeed and walk in or they don't and something else happens.

Never split the party!
Always! Especially in Cthulhu. That makes game more fun ![]()
Never split the party!
Say yes or roll the dice! If the party wants to split I'm not going to stop them.
