How many of the capital ships?

By Filthy Pierre, in X-Wing

How many of each of the capital ships CR90 and GR-75 should I get, 1 or 2?

I have got enough of everything to make a full 100 point squad of one type of ship so far (except TIE advanced, only have 1 of those.)

Capital ship ones not sure if I should get 1 or 2. Obviously 1 to actually use but will another be fielded or just collected?

CR90 is $130 AUS and the GR-75 is $76 AUS.

Honestly, we have no idea. :)

We don't know how they will play and we don't really have the full rules for them. We can guess, but how potent or effective these craft are is still a huge mystery. However, you have plenty of time to decide, since they are months away from release (regardless of the rather optimistic release dates shown on various vendor websites).

You should by 2, then send me one of each for full analysis and play testing, then and only then will I be able to give you a definite answer.

Well… its seems that all the cards that you need came on each model and can’t be used for the small ships, and the pilots cards are also unique, so you need only one of them. My guess, you will need only one… but we’ll see

I am probably going to pick up one of each. I want the X-Wing pilots and any crew that come with each ship.

Can't know until we see what the point total of Epic games are. Though, strangely, the base Transport looks to be 20 pts...

Ouch, that's expensive! You can get them for $40 and $60 at Miniature Market in the States. I was personally planning on getting 3 and 2 of each. I figured that I want 2 CR-90's so I can do red team / blue team, with one per side.

Is it bad that I'm considering getting 5 Transports to run a list with just those?

First space buses.

Now this. Only you, Sable. I commend you.

See, my understanding is they don't have any weapons. However, if a smaller ship runs into them, that ship is destroyed. I figure with 5 of them, I should be able to force collisions and win without firing a shot. :)

Don't tempt me to do the same thing. :D

Kidding aside, FFG explicitly states these ships are not legal in standard games, and like someone mentioned earlier, the 20 point cost is basically gibberish at this point without understanding the rules for the new formats more.

I'll get one of each regardless of how they are/can be used.. the x wing pilots are good for anything and they (the big ships) look like fun additions.. at worse I'll end up with 2 transports.. but that will depend on the new upgrades that come with it

I've put in preorders for two of each at different places (managed to get in whilst Amazon uk had a really low price), who knows if all show up though. I would quite like to have two of the transports (especially since these have X-wings as well), but the Tantive IV may be diminished by having more than one. At least I can always sell it on - though I imagine it would depend greatly on the cards that come with it. I was impressed by the huge amount coming with the transport, I'm assuming an equal if not greater amount coming with the even larger ship and price tag.

My guess is that it's treated as a non-combat cargo ship that doesn't actually "do" anything until you put some costly upgrades on it.

I wonder how collisions between large ships will be handled? We know smaller ships are simply destroyed. But with five transports trying to navigate a 3'x3' space, they're bound to collide at some point... Or fly off the board.

Unfortunately the cost of shipping those over to Australia adds quite a bit to the price. It doesn't seem so great a deal when you have to add $60+ in shipping costs.

I'll probably be using these guys to get mine: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Star-Wars-X-Wing-Tantive-IV-Expansion-Pack-NEW-/390708992686?pt=Games_US&hash=item5af8121aae

I too managed to get in early when Amazon UK had these at really good prices. I've pre-ordered 2 Corvettes and 4 Transports. Fingers crossed Amazon honour their pre-order prices!

I'm thinking that I'll use the new repaints to represent Luke and Wedge since I don't fancy attempting to repaint my minis myself!

question - is the x-wing that accompanies the rebel transport a repaint?

Yes, that was my impression - although I can't recall whether that has actually been confirmed anywhere and the pictures we've seen aren't really close enough to make a call either way.

I'm sure they have said its a repaint. If you look closely at the pictures it appears to have a yellowish nose cone!

x-wing 'repaint' seems lo have yellow nose, thats all i can see thats different.

Wha was the low price Amazon UK had it at?

Miniatures Market after shipping comes to about $183 after shipping and conversion to AUS $ for both.

Its about $20 cheaper to go with them.

I buy from Ozgameshop. Free postage.
