Just picked up a shuttle, man, it's ugly. Wash it?

I have several GW washes but I'm not the best at applying said wash. Any advice? Mix wash with water? Dip brush in wash then water? Straight wash? I dunno.

The GW washes are pretty watery to begin with, so i don't think you should have to add more water to them. Just keep in mind that the washes are designed to flow into the details of a model; so any cracks will become darker than than the area around them.

As for specific advice, it really depends on what kind of effect you're trying to accomplish. I have used both black and brown washes over entire ships to make them appear dirty ( adding more around engines and in other areas for an even more grimy look) as well brown streaks for a somewhat rusty look. ( sorry i don't have pictures at the moment).

For something like that i would recommend just lightly washing the entire model straight out of the pot, making sure that it doesn't build up too heavily.

hope that helps.

Disclamer i am only an amateur painter, and don't claim to know all the ins and outs.

It's not pretty? You're looking at a different ship than some of us. To most of us, it's gorgeous!

that being said... some of the best alt paint jobs I've seen in this game are shuttle repaints. Go forth and improve!

I think he's referring to the paint job since most of the ones that I've seen have easily seen brush strokes, etc. I think I may strip mine and repaint it also to try and fix that issue up and maybe make it a little more unique.

no need to strip it, you can overpaint it easily enough. stripping just seems to remove the wash only, plus there is a possibility of damaging the ship...just a heads up.

Yeah. The model looks fine but the paint job is terrible.

I would suggest a metallic wash, thus making a disco shuttle that will be glittery and fabulous!

If I could paint, there are several ideas I've had:

Rusty, One Primer Colored Wing, 'Free Candy' scrawled across the side

Coriscant Independant School District bus

Coriscant PD Patrol Cruiser

Ambulance

I am doing this tonight - oh yes.... party shuttle to the rescue! - just remember to keep it funky, but don't LOOK like you're trying to keep it funky. Fly casual.

Alright.. now you've done it... i want to do the school bus now.. i just need the right yellow to do it.. lol

Too much thinking... now I wanna do up a couple of bombers and a couple squints and eyeballs in the bus colors and call it the "School District" build... lol.. would definitely be able to tell where my ships were.. lol.. I need to start looking at paints.. hmmm. Need a trip to LGS...

I actually think they would look cool in that school bus yellow... wait.. am I delerious or does anyone else think they would look cool in that color.. lol

aww man what about a Highland Cattle repaint! (reddish brown or black)

Could do it in manatee grey.. lol..

I was thinking traditional Holstien as well. You know, the big black and white splotches. :)

Machine of Udder Destruction.

If you do the Holstein, make sure you paint the engine section pale pink.

I wasn't referring to the paint job at all... Just the udder awesomeness that many of us have found in the hopefully soon to be either holstein'd, or school bussed, formally albino void bison.
