YT-1300 crew question

By Ringo67, in X-Wing

I still haven't decided what I'll run in my first tournament on Thursday, but I've narrowed it down to either an XXXB squad, or a variant of Han Shoots First.

My HSF looks like this:

Han Solo +Luke Skywalker +Millennium Falcon

Red Squadron Pilot x2

As I look at that, it seems that crewman Luke's ability is somewhat redundant with Han's ability to re-roll dice. Perhaps I should use Chewbacca as a crewman instead, because of his ability to remove damage. Although Chewy's ability can only be used once.

Is it worth just using Luke, or should I take one-shot Chewy and maybe spread the remaining points around by giving each of the X-Wings an astromech or something?

Thanks again!

With Luke or Gunner, Han can essentially shoot at a target 4 times...Luke allows his special ability for a 2 points more than Gunner.

Well I can say that at my first X-Wing tournament I got wrecked by a HSF list. He called his list "the gang is all here". He had the Millenium Falcon, Luke, and Chewy paired with Wedge. I'm not sure of all the upgrades he was using but the combo of Han and Luke was devastating. And adding Chewy to the mix made the ship that much more difficult to destroy. By the time I had taken out all the shields and Chewy the game was already over. Didn't destroy a single ship. I was running two TIE Bombers (both named pilots) and a Tie Adv (with Vader piloting). My list did quite well against the other lists I came across but just got completely blown out of the water by his HSF list.

I can see some clear upgrades to your list, sir.

If you have a Gunner and an Expert Handling, I'd use that instead of Luke. Large-ship Barrel Rolls are INCREDIBLE, and will usually result in you finding an excellent angle of attack.

If we take the 6 points from Luke and your two X-Wings, that gives us Gunner and two Rookies, along with a Recon Specialist and PTL on Han, netting you two focuses and an evade every turn.

Switch out the two red squadrons for two rookies one with R2D2, you will find it will work great!
