Couldnt find if this was asked before

When your creating your character and later when you change careers. How do you set the tier your character will be in? and what would be a requirement to move up or down a tier.

In creation you can pick broke, poor, comfortable and affuent.

Some careers have the trait of Noble.

I picture noble being gold, and high end political careers.

Silver as merchant, middle class.

brass as the poor, working class.

I also use birth as an input.

Born into silver tier, then gets coachman career. Would that mean he is brass, or still silver.

If he becomes a Master Engineer, does that mean they are near gold or still silver.

If take Thane, Noble 1, are they automatically Gold tier.

Your tier does not change just because you change your career. You are born into it. Maybe you will make a lot of money and rise to silver tier but money alone doesn't get you to the gold tier. The landed baron will never think of you as an equal even if you are the richest merchant around. There is a description of the different tiers in the player's guide.

Hero's call talks about Social tier and your beginning wealth (it is determined then) . If you start in Brass tier, you'll maybe get more money, but it's usually plain for anyone to see the difference between someone who was raised with money..and those raised as paupers on the street.

Indeed. I had a brass tier character have to spend "interlude actions" and some cash paying a bankrupted noble to "train him" how to have even a chance (roll to) pass himself off as better class (picture Henry Higgins and Liza Dolittle but subtitute Anselm the Ratcatcher for Liza).
