What was your first tournament squad?

What was your first tournament squad?

In my first tournament I played XXXX...

Wedge Antilles + R2F2 + Swarm Tactics (31)

Red Squadron Pilot + R2 Astromech (24)

Rookie Pilot (21)

Rookie PIlot (21)

This was way back in the Wave1/Kessel Run era. I hated Y-Wings at the time due to a few failed squads id tested them in but i later found out they were actually good.

My XXXX squad performed pretty well going 2-1, beating a vader/swarm and an XX+Biggs rebel squad and losing to a tie swarm - he was using weird stuff like marksmanship on 4 Black Squadron Pilots but it worked well for him.

I ran this at my first tournament and came in first of 9 players.

Darth Vader (36)
Concussion Missiles, Stealth Device

Soontir Fel (33)
Push the Limit, Stealth Device

Turr Phennir (31)
Push the Limit, Stealth Device

I don't have my first tournament until the end of this month, and I can't tell you what the list is..... someone might be listening.

I played my first one a few days ago

Ran-

Garven Dreis

Dutch Vander, Ion cannon turret

Blue Squadron pilot

Blue Squadron pilot, FCS

3 wins, 2 loses, and finished 6th with it, not sure on player numbers, about 20 I think

Man, I'm having a hard time remembering. I played in the Inaugural tourney at GenCon 2012, and I think it was something like this:

  • Darth Vader, Expert Handling, Concussion Missiles
  • Maarek Steele, Marksmanship
  • Tempest Squadron Pilot
  • Mauler Mithel, Determination

I finished 5th, just missed Top 4 on tie breakers. And yes, I'm aware this squad is crap. Remember, the game had just been released the previous day, and I'd played it a grand total of once before that during a FF beta test.

Turr, PTL

Night Beast

I think...

Three tie advaced with stealth.

Howlrunner.

I won my first game against two firesprays.

Lost my second game against wedge (who actually died in rd3) and three a-wings.

Lost the third game against a tie swarm.

Lost the fourth game because I k-turned off the table.

I came in second to last out of twenty-something players but the guy I beat came in second or third. :-)

I gave away one of my advanced ships and only play one if I want Vader.

7 Academy TIE

1 Black sqd TIE + squad leader

I started in september and my plan was to Use the newest modell as I guesed that most players had limited experience with them.

I like several of the same on tournamenys as there are many games and the brain gets tired. If all shiips are the same, it is easyer to handle

My first tournament was the Kessel Run, which I played in twice and managed to take third both times. I was running Wedge w/ Swarm Tactics, Biggs, a Red Squadron Pilot, and a Rookie Pilot. Wedge and the rookie shot first, used Biggs for cover, and the entire squad shot before the (then) menacing 8-TIE swarm.

My first was a local shop tournament. Around twelve entries. I ran

Biggs

Rookie

Rookie

Dagger HLC and FCS

Did pretty good for me, I lost in the championship round to a tie bomber swarm. We ended the game with no ships on the table, he won on initiative.

My first tournament was at Gen Con after release.

It was something like:

Dutch, R2D2

Gold Squadron w/ Ion

Gold Squadron w/ Ion

Gold Squadron w/ 2 Proton Torps

I got crushed by ties taking lots of evades and me not knowing how to fly Ys around asteroids.

if i was playing XXXX again id go with something like ur squad. for your first tourney u got urself a gr8 squad togther, similar to mine but urs is easily superior with Biggs 'The human honey pot'.

my first 100pt tournament squad was regionals

Darth Vader w/ Swarm Tactics, Concussion Missile

Nightbeast

Bounty Hunter w/ Gunner

Academy Tie

I won, went 1-1 vs Hothie too... :P

I haven't been in a tournament yet. My first squad used in a league was:

Omicron Group Pilot (21)
Fire-Control System (2)
Gunner (5)
Engine Upgrade (4)

Captain Yorr (24)
Fire-Control System (2)
Gunner (5)
Intelligence Agent (1)
Engine Upgrade (4)

Total: 100

My first tournament was back in March or April. I had played one game of XW to get the rules. I had showed up to play Warhammer, but since no one was available for that, and the XW tourny had an odd number of players, several of the guys convinced me to play after I had bought the starter like 30min before. One of the guys let me use his Ties since he was running rebels. Since I had no idea how to play Imps yet, I more or less went with several ships:

Sootir, 2 alphas, 2 academies, 1 obsidian (cause I had 1 pt left).

I actually managed to come in 2nd. I did feel kinda stupid in the first game (the one loss I had). In the middle of the game, I forgot I needed a damage deck, and the thought of shuffling them completely skipped my mind since I was in a hurry. I now know that FFG puts all 7 direct hit cards on the top of the deck :P

First tournament I ran:

Krassis with HLC

B.H. with gunner

Backstabber

97 points. I was going for initiative.

There is a battle report on this tournament. I came in last with it.

My first will be Wedge (Swarm, R5), Biggs, Rookie, Green (PTL).

Wanted to keep it mostly simple but couldn't resist throwing an A-Wing in there as I think they are a lot of fun to have zipping around the board.

My first squad was Vader and Howlrunner, both with Swarm Tactics, an Obsidian Squad and 3 Academy Pilots at the first Kessel Run tourney....came in second place and won a Slave-1.

Three Bounty Hunters.

Did okay; won two (both versus rebel fighters), lost one (and that with one surviving TIE that was mostly on fire). More than anything else, it taught me to respect the rear-arc firepower of the Firespray.

I played in a small 4 person event a couple of weeks ago. I won both my games and got first. I used this list....

Ibtisam w/push the limit, and advance sensors

Ten Numb w/push the limit and advance sensors

Biggs Darklighter w/R2-F2

I like using the named pilots the most. Feels more like "Star Wars" that way to me.

8 Academy Pilots

Mine was just this past weekend.

Garven Dreis (26)

Rookie Pilot (21)

Dutch Vander (23), Ion Cannon Turret (5)

Blue Squadron Pilot (22), Advanced Sensors (3)

Total:100

Only finished 1-2 but I had a great time. Those numbers will change with experience!

I've been toying with playing this exact list. I really like having Dutch in the squad, moreso than Garven actually. But this list is very action heavy, assuming you don't get denied, which can screw you over with Garven/Dutch. But proper flying should yield an extra focus and TL for the group. Especially if you use the blue and rookie as blockers and action deny the other team.
