You would guess so, yes. Your best bet would be a quickly deployed grenade trap.
If you want to avoid it, you need an acrobatics (+20) or an agility (+0) test.

"Mover over it and take a firing position, Cade, I'll handle this."
Assuming Cade doesn't manage to blow himself up, I disarm the mine and - of course! - fetch the grenade.
[Roll 28. With int 32, that's 3 DoS]
What exactly is Cade doing ? Jumping over it onto the roof ? Or trying to get at the ladders side to let you pass ?
If you wanna disarm it, Cade first needs to get out of the way somehow.
Edited by GauntZeroI'm assuming he moves up to the roof.
[Probably the safest way is to come down again, there's no need to risk triggering the trap]
Thats an Acrobatics Test +20 or AG +0 then...if he decides to do that, he should roll himself.
The problem is time.
We can't stand here disarming it knowing that the guys are either close enough to attack us or running away.
But I digress, I think it's Cade's decision to do what I told him to or to disagree...
Wow, those are some tense seconds happening there!
ANd it takes so long that it feels like bullet-time ;D

Well, now I know how my next Dodge action is going to look like!
Asterius gave an order. True, Asterius was not necessarily the commanding officer of the group, but he had initiative, and Cade acknowledged that. Initiative was good. A man with initiative had an opinion worth listening to. He'd suggested Cade get over it. Cade looked at the wire. Could he do it? He was well aware that if he failed, he was likely to fall victim to whatever trap had been set. But, they could ill afford the time it would take him to climb down and back up.
The order was sound. There was some risk but they would risk losing their potential lead. Cade went for it.
[Agility test (+0): Need 41, rolled a 92-- using a Fate Point to reroll it-- rerolled 33]
Cade gave himself a mighty heave to throw himself up over the tripwire set. As he pushed off, he felt his foot slip and as he pulled himself over it, his foot nearly caught the wire. At the last second he managed to jerk his leg away from it, allowing him to pass completely over the line without triggering it. He rapidly scrambled to his feet on the roof, and drew out his las pistol in his right hand and pulled his sword from its scabbard in the other, quickly scanning the rooftops for any sign of their quarry.
[currently have 2 Fate Points remaining for this "session"]
Edited by ColAranaIn the moment when Cade jumps onto the rooftop, he sees one of the man they tried to capture (the one most heavily wounded) about 20m away at the other side of the roof. His autogun is pointing at Cade (Overwatch) and he fires a dangerous full-auto shot into Cade who just tries to find his balance.
He rolls a 3 against 38 (BS38-10 auto +10 short range) and scores 4 DoS.
The damage scored is 11, 10, 11, 9 and also you need to make a WP test against pinning.
This is the moment the hell breaks loose also on the ground level.
As you are careful down there, you are not surprised by the ambush, but never the less, the other three guys attack from another dark alley about 40m away.
Their init is 11.
Currently, Asterius is about 8m from the ground on the ladder and trying to defuse the trap.
Dral and Dammek are at the foot of the ladder. The only cover close would be a huge container with garbage.
Your enemies have also taken cover behind such a container.
[Roll for Initiative: 10+4=14]
[Rolling for Resisting Pinning: 75 for 4 DoF]
Cade had no time to even try and evade the maelstrom of bullets that beset him the moment he reached the rooftops. His Flak armor protected him to some extent, but the bullet still slammed into him with tremendous force, wounding him critically.
[Cade's TB is 3 and his Flak Armor confers an AV of 4, for a total of 7.
Total damage from enemy fire is 41 points of damage. Cade's armor reduces that by 28 (7x4), thus Cade takes 13 points of damage. He is currently at -2 hitpoints and presumably suffers some result of Critical Impact Damage. He is also pinned. I don't know what the results of the Critical Damage are, so I don't actually know if Cade can actually take any actions at all now]
You are hit at arm-arm-body-head with the last hit inflicting the critical effect.
You get -10 on Per and Int tests for the next 3 rounds.
As Init starts from now on - you are the next to act.
Edited by GauntZero[initiative AgB 3 + roll 7 = 10]
The first on the ground lays suppressive fire on dral and dammek (please tests against pinning), but otherwise hit no one.
The second one aims for dral, rolls 02 and scores 4 hits with full-auto.
Damage, if you dont dodge, would be 10, 8, 11, 8, hittong right arm, right arm, body, head.
The third one aims for dammek, but suffers from a weapon jam. You hear him curse his autogun.
[Dodge. Rolled 53, target 31, 2 DoF. Spend a fate point for a reroll as this is gonna hurt. Dodge. Rolled 14, target 31, 2 DoS. I take 11 points of damage
]
I throw myself behind the garbage container and duck down so they hopefully can't see me.
Could you check if you are pinned ?
Did you get critical damage ?
I smile as Cade moves up the ladder.
"Good soldier", I think.
Well, time to work on the trigger.
[i Roll init: 5+3 = 8]
Could you check if you are pinned ?
Did you get critical damage ?
I am on zero wounds. I didn't realize he was using suppressing fire, does he still get all those hits with the -20 penalty?
[if I do need to roll for pinning... WP 41 - 20 (full auto suppression) = target 21, roll 37; 2DoF... I still try and reach cover]
Edited by dava100This was not the same guy who shot at you.
One made suppressive fire on you and Dammek.
One hit you.
One jammed while trying to hit Dammek.
[initiative: 10+4=14]
[Roll to resist Pinning: target number 24 +10 sacred inscriptions -20 full auto = 14; rolled a 42]
[Half move to get behind cover, roll to recover from Pinning: target number 74, rolled a 91]
Init:
- Cade
- Dammek [already acted]
- Enemy on the roof
- Enemies on the ground [already acted]
- Dral
- Asterius [defusing this turn]
As I am pinned and so only have a half action can I reach the trash container near me for cover?
As I am pinned and so only have a half action can I reach the trash container near me for cover?
Yes you can reach it, it is quite close (about 2m).
At the end of your turn you may try to get out of being pinned.
Cade and the enemy on the roof need to finishes their actions (Cade first), then the next round will start.
Asterius managed to defuse the trap in his turn.
