What do u store ur Cards and stuff in?

By mjc721, in X-Wing

hi ppl ive got a question... what do u store your cards and tokens and bits in?

i store my miniatures in foam but am running out of room for my cards

Small ships, bases, data plates (the cardboard piece that fits to the stand) and dials, I store in a Plano box.

Large Ships get stored in their plastic packaging in my "travel Box" (an appropriately=sized cardboard box).

Cards I separate by "Damage", "Rebel", "Empire", "Info" in their own zip-loc bag in one of my Starter Set boxes.

Tokens I separate into "Frequently used" (Shields, Ion, Stress, TL, Focus, Evade, etc...) and "Less Frequently Used" (Asteroids, Senator's Shuttle, Numbers, etc...) in their own zip-loc bags in another Starter Set box.

Range Rulers and Movement Templates I keep 1 set in one Starter Set box and another set in the Second Starter Set box.

Rules, scenarios, maneuver overviews, (all the printed stuff) I also keep in one of the boxes.

All of the above goes in to my "Travel Box", along with a note pad, some pencils/pens, etc... and my third Starter Set which has duplicates of everything, "just in case".

Not fancy, but it all works.

I have four Plano trays I keep everything in. One for Rebels, one for Imperials, one for all the tokens and maneuver templates, and one for upgrade cards (sorted by type). I also have two thin binders that hold the rulebooks, baseball card storage pages for the pilot cards and squad lists I maintain. Its all fairly well organized to make setting up simple.

Everyone in our area are now using a 4-Pocket Pro Binder for their upgrades. They are side loading, rather than top loading so it's easy to slide two cards into each pocket, and they don't move around much at all. This booklet has been in and out of my bag for about a month now and no issues other than occasionally having to reposition a card. They also have a elastic strap to keep it closed. And easily have enough room for all your upgrades. I have pages left and that is having spaces left for getting extra upgrades in the future.

I use a pro-binder for mine as well, but its one of the binders that has a zip all around it, and i use two different card pages, one for the bigger cards, and a smaller "Coin slot page" for the smaller cards. works great and allows me to segregate EVERYTHING..and when zipped up, i dont have to worry about things accidentally falling out, not that they do or slide out of the pockets easy,

- Tobacco cards binder pages for the ship base plates (these pockets are just a tiny bit smaller than the upgrade cards unfortunately);

- Small Business card binder or binder pages for upgrades (business card pockets are slightly larger allowing you to fill each one with multiple copies of the same upgrade card);

- Regular TCG compatible binder pages for the pilot cards;

- All of the above in a single binder;

- The original core set boxes: 1 for movement templates, dice and the box with tokens (focus, evade, TL, ion); 1 for movement dials, asteroids, excess tokens of all types and large base plates;

- Each ship is in it's own original plastic tray along with it's plastic base and pegs, all of them in a random large box (the size depends on your fleet).

Not the most mobile setup but I'm mostly happy with it.

Just picked up one of these:

I only have 1 core set, but I have a ton of expansions. cards, 3rd party range rulers, etc. I really like what a lot of people have done for storing their ships with the plastic bubble pack of the retail package. It really protects the models from moving around, but I thought that as long as the case wasn't getting tipped on to its side all the time, then I could just store the models directly in the pull out trays.

It seems to be working nicely, 1 box for Empire, 1 box for Rebels, and the 3rd, smaller box, for tokens, dice, flight stands, etc.. and finally the top part flips open so I can store cards, documentation, templates, rulers, etc..

I've managed to fit everything into a Plano 5231 - a little over 30 ships, tokens, rules, dice, damage deck. I keep my pilot and upgrade cards in a binder. I just reorganized the trays this weekend to fit the large ships in there (prior to that, I was keeping them in their original boxes).

I use a Tackle Box with removable slats.

I have two larger Plano trays for ships, one for rebels, the other holds my imperials and I am anticipating a 3rd as I am at capacity. The rebels have a YT-1300 and its larger base, and rule books, and my bases. The imps have rulers, dice and lots of tie fighters. I have cut the original plastic for most of the ships with each occupying one cell. Y-wings and Falcon needed to have custom foam cut as their plastic was too big for the Plano.

I have a third smaller set for tokens and all my spares are in one of the starter boxes. (I have far too many proton torpedos to actually use)

This is what I use. I've got tokens, rulers, asteroids, dice, etc...on the top, at least far more than enough to use in 200 point games (as I often provide the ships for my opponents).

In the bottom half I've got 20 ships, their base plates and dials, and all the cards (pilot, 2x damage decks, and upgrade cards) with a lot of room to spare.

Some repeat pilot and duplicated cards and some extra tokens go in an extra core set box. Falcon and Firespray are in original packaging and used on as as needed basis. They could go in the larger slots on the bottom, but I don't necessarily see a need to haul them in there.

Currently I have a big cardboard box full of ships still in the orginal packaging (sliced the blister packs open with a razor knife for access) , with tokens, cards and such in Ziploc bags. I can't wait for my Battle Foam bag with custom trays to get here.

I use 3 plano trays that fit nicely in a duffell bag. One for Rebs, one for imps, one for tokens, templates etc. I've cut some foam to pack the ships with to keep them from getting damage in transport and even cut out the shape of my falcon, lambda and firespray, b-wings, y-wings and hwk so they fit in the larger compartments of the boxes without moving. I'm looking into getting a new system for my tokens though. I'm going to get one of those Monday-Sunday pill boxes to put all of my tokens in. That way i can just open all the lids to keep tokens handy and I free up space in my plano boxes for more ships.

for the upgrade cards I have Flambeau tackle box with with adjustable slats (6 rows by 2). The cards down sit flat in them, but they are all separated out and I have one space thats for the dice and stand pegs.

for the Rebels and Imps - I have 2 Plano tackle boxes (3750 model) that hold all my ships (for now) dials, cards, stand bases, pilot cards, and a set of damage cards.

for the rules I have an ArtBin (Flambeau) pencil box. 3 rows, it holds 2 sets of rulers (custom ones, and stock)

for the tokens a Plano (m# 3448) 6 spaced tackle box. its nice as i just open it up and have all my tokens at the ready.

These all fit into a back pack I have had for years, just a common school type back pack. there is enough room to have a bag of extra tokens in case of emergency..

If I get just a couple more ships though, I fear these will have to be upgraded. I like to have all my ships and their gear in the same area, so I just grab what I need without having to really "look" for it. its all presorted. but as I said, one more shuttle or a couple small ships, and I have to get another, and I am pretty much full in the back pack, where I would probaly move all the big ships to a new box with maybe the stands and get a bigger back pack.

I use something similar to this:

It has a total of 5 tackle boxes, 2 small and 3 large, that I can use to keep my OCD-level organization the way I want it.

Edit:

This is the exact tackle box I use:

I picked mine up at Walmart for $40. And as far as cards go, I use the binder Rodent Mastermind posted pics of for my pilot cards. Upgrade cards stay in small plastic bags that I've accumulated by buying new ships. They are organized into small piles for similar types of upgrades (torpedos, missiles, and bombs in one stack, etc). They go in the small compartments on top of my tackle box.

Overkill much? Lol. I use two plano 5231s. One for rebels and one for imperials. The only thing I need is a way to store my falcon, slave 1, and shuttle with their plastic cases.

That's what I use, too. It's a bit bigger then it appears online. :)

As I don't have a lot of ships yet, I'm only using three of the five insert boxes. One for rebels, one for imperials and one for tokens and cards, etc. But I figure I'll grow into it soon enough.

I use one large tackle box for rebels and empire each, one large tackle box for my Star Trek Attack Wing miniatures, and then the two smaller tackle boxes for the tokens and such for each game. I may eventually have to separate the two into separate tackle boxes hah.

Actually I use the same, I should toss up a pic, it handles everything perfectly, all my stands are assembled in the top section, the two larger pull outs are for Rebel and Imperial respectively, and the top pullout is for tokens, and is just large enough to hold everything but move templates (the two sets I have are in each or the faction pullouts). The only ship that isn't in the pullouts sits in the top with the stands, and that's the YT-1300, I highly suspect the top will be perfect for Rebel Transports as well. Though my fleet is quickly outgrowing this container, I may have to invest in something larger and more versatile.

I went this route as well, 3 trays from Home Depot. One for tokens/little bits, a rebel tray and an imperial tray. I went the Rodent Mastermind route with the upgrade cards, will likely do the same for pilot cards. If you can get a plano box that is adjustable in terms of compartment size you'll be able to reconfigure when new ships come out and mess up your already perfect layout. Like when I discovered I wanted to run lists with recon-specs, but only had one Crow, doubled up the A-wings, pulled a divider, presto, Rebel tray is back in order.

Mine were ~$5 each from Home Depot, I figure I can buy a 4th if my fleet grows enough.

I put all three trays in a clear document box from the container store ($5)

zwmOfNu.jpg

The clear document box has enough room around the sides for the card binder and extras, like the rule books, squad list printouts, etc. When I go to tourneys, the lid comes off and works like a tray to cary between tables. The blue plano box that Jetsetter uses is another good option (I forget the number). He has a rebel and imp case, ships can go in the case, single pegged on their stands.

Nice link. I always like to see what other people are doing with all their stuff.
