combat question

By Bijan, in Runebound

Hallo! I am recent proud owner of runebound all of its expansion (except midnight:( ). Last night we played the game and when I read the rules of combat we got confuesed about defending and attacking. More precisly is there any beniefit at all from defending, why would you want to do that?

Is there any rules missed out, do you take exhoustion counters instead of real dammage?

And another question, is there any other way to heal other than paying at the city? Cant you skip a turn an heal one? Do poor people just die:P

Attacking is better than defending, because you can deal damage. But your Hero is limited in attacking to One Phase (Ranged, Melee, Magic) per turn, same for the Allies. You have to defend when you cannot attack, and you always receive Wounds in combat

There are Items, Special Abilities and Followers that allow you to heal outside Towns. If you don't have any of these, you must do a Market Step in Town.

Thanks for the clarification!
