The Amazing B-Wing

By Crabbok, in X-Wing

Here is my planned build -

blank.gif?v51 Garven Dreis (26)
blank.gif?v51 Ibtisam + Advanced Sensors + Heavy Laser Cannon + Push the Limit + Engine Upgrade (45)
blank.gif?v51 "Dutch" Vander + Ion Cannon Turret (28)

The idea here is that Garven and Duth will both boost Ibtisam with free focus and target locks. He's also incredibly maneuverable this way. I doubt this would win many tournaments because I have half my points in a single ship... but I suspect it will be fun to play!

I'm having a lot of fun with B-Wings and advanced sensors. I'm not sure how important target locks are for Ibitsam if you don't have any ordnance. If you can keep her stressed, you already get one re-roll for free. But, Garven will be busy focusing, so maybe he'll reap the benefit from Dutch.

Ibtisam is actually a female Calamarian.

Ibtisam is my favorite B-wing pilot. She's actually earned a spot in my upcoming Rogue Squadron list.

The problem with a list like this is the B-wing's single defense die. With all those upgrades, it will be the prime target, and even with all those hit points you're probably going to lose her in one, maybe two rounds. The other two are good, but relying on the B-wing as your heavy hitter while also loading it up with upgrades is a mistake, I think.

I will say that of the 3 games I have played that incorporated the B-wing, I have had a lot of fun with it and had pretty good results. I do cringe a bit when someone shoots and I have to roll that single defense and the lack of real maneuvers is frustrating, but all in all I really enjoy the ship. Enough so that I want to pick a couple more up.

Try flying the Lambda for a while. The B-Wing will feel like a highly mobile craft with an amazing movement dial. :)

LOL! I can only imagine. Me and the gents at the store were talking in detail about the shuttle. Will probably pick one up for the collectors aspect when the Royal Guards are released.

Sounds like I would love to visit your game store and fly 3 shuttles if none of you think they are viable craft. Maybe put some money on the outcome. :D

That is a battle report post, or youtube video I'd like to see.

SableGryphon flies Shuttles competitively almost exclusively. His 3 shuttle fleet is a beast!

2x Omicron Group Pilot

+ Fire-Control Systems

+ Gunner

+ Engine Upgrades

[32 Each]

Captain Yorr

+ Fire-Control Systems

+ Gunner

+ Engine Upgrades

+ Intelligence Agent

[36]

FCS + Gunner = The second attack has a free target lock that gets replaced after the attack anyway.

He uses Captain Yorr as a free Adrenaline Rush every turn.

He uses Engine Upgrades to boost the shuttles around the field very rapidly. One shuttle will be flying out of the way while the other two fire on its pursuers. The shuttle that is flying out of the way changes every turn, so the damage is either spread evenly across his shuttles, or your fleet has two angry hellbeasts blasting at your behind while you focus down a much faster vessel... a Catch 22 if ever I saw one.
