My Repaints

By Rob Jedi, in X-Wing

Superb engine glow on the transport.

Impressive hanburger fleet!

Some of the best painting I have seen here, right up there with Rodent Mastermind.

Very nicely done!! I especially like the cargo container with the Weyland Yutani logo! ;)

I would like to see a picture breakdown of how you did the YT-1300 variant mods. How you built it up, from where you got the parts etc. TYIA

bummer, can't see anything on the first or second page, broken links!

Superb engine glow on the transport.

+1

Really great glow...

The engine glow on the ships is awesome!

Thanks everyone. Looks like photobucket has run out again, I uploaded all the photos to flickr last night so I'll go through later and edit the old posts with the new links to fix the recurring problem. Have Assault on Imdaar tourneys to go to over the weekend so will be after that.

Where in the world did you get the acrylic template for the transport??

Wow! These look amazing... Wish I had the skills.

I want to know the brand of 3 drawer tool box you were using to store the miniatures. Would mean alot ty

Where in the world did you get the acrylic template for the transport??

that's a prototype one I designed for Aetherworks should be available soon.

Got around to replacing all the photo links so may as well post some new photos as well.

Fantastic work!

The attention to fine detail is really impressive; I especially appreciate the x wing squad numbering, customizations, and the weathering effects on all of the ships.

Does FFG ever showcase players' repaints and conversions? These would be a good start if they don't. *cough cough*

Finally got my hands on a Tantive IV and wanted some nice bright engines and not game to put lights inside so TO THE AIRBRUSH!

1st I sprayed white onto the center of each engine

14269466680_199c404615_o.jpg

next a good coat of fleuro orange

14269466740_03dfc9831b_o.jpg

then sprayed yellow around the middle then white in the center tubes, with a touch more yellow added by brush on the edge of the tube. Then some charcoal grey sprayed on the engines after masking the ends for a touch more contrast.

The corvette and smaller Corellion ship flying past MIR space station.

I also drilled out those horn things at the bottom of the ship. Repainted the red around the bridge window and glossed the window 4 or 5 times to make it nice and shiny.

I'll probably add a lot more shading to the ship but unsure how much weathering to add since the original was relatively clean compared to most Star Wars ships.

I was totally going to ask if that was MIR.

I gotta say, those engines look **** good, but what you did to the engines on the back of that Rebel Transport is some wicked voodoo magic. Words can't describe.

You have totally inspired me to purchase a spray set in the near future in order to attempt to come close to what you have done.

Amazing work.

I really need to learn how to airbrush... Nice work.

Yeah I bought the MIR model years ago when I visited the Science and Industry museum in Chicago. Was thinking of basing it on something CD sized and giving it a repaint. The one thing I liked in trying out Attack Wing was the planet obstacle so thought of having a space station for X-wing, though it's not very Star Wars looking.

As for airbrushing it doesn't take a huge investment lately I've been using a $20 made in china double action airbrush and a $120 aircompressor with tank and moisture trap, it's nice and quiet.

I recomend one like this for ease of use, having a built in gravity feed paint pot makes cleaning much simpler, also nice having a cap to it too.

Right on. I appreciate the info.

Keep up the awesome work and keep posting pictures to inspire and awe!

Some new stuff. Decided today that I wanted to get rid of the big roof gun on my E-wing and give it one of those tiny double barrels turrets like most of the artwork including the LEGO kit of the E-wing has. The original gun peg popped out half way through me cutting it off. Then I made a tiny turret like how I did my Y-wing ones. Also decided to do up a Y-wing ace in dark red a bit like the scum ones. I also did some extra markings on my Z-95s and painted a HWK like Immaterium Press' one cause I really liked it.
