New templates from Cog o' 2

By oneway, in X-Wing

Here are the templates, they look pretty good in person, the flash and washing make the paint better than it is lol.. didn't do the '2' Range sticks or the prox mines yet. there is some really nice detailing on the Mine counters, CoT did an outstanding job with these.

those look pretty dope. I've been impressed with most of the 3rd party accessorizes for X-wing, i hope more continues to come out.

Just gone for a look....cool and reasonably priced.

I've ordered 2 sets of movement templates from there (1 rebel for a friend and 1 imperial for myself) and I was very impressed with the quality and price.

It says on their homepage that the templates "come unpainted and with a protective cover front and back" and that the examples are shown painted.

Does this mean you have to paint them yourself? I haven't been able to find pictures of the templates unpainted anywhere.

Also, what is the protective cover?

The pictures in this thread have both unpainted and painted. They just fill in the laser etching with white paint so it stands out, the detail is all there either way.

If you look at the first picture the proxy mine is unpainted. The other two mines are painted.

I'm assuming the protective cover is peel off plastic like you get on new electronics

Cool, I see it now. Thanks!

Ducks has it correct. They are a very nice product, I'm sure they will see lots of use..

They are doing it right. The masking on the acrylic protects it during engraving, shipping and such. It also makes it super easy to paint fill the engraving area. Just paint all in, don't fill it in, since the masking it on, you can just get it all over, when you remove the masking it will only be in the engraved areas. The paint fill makes all the difference. White is nice, but also consider a contrasting color. Or get super fancy and do the numbers white for readability, and the decorations a fancy color. Pimp it!

Good idea hexis, I hadn't thought about that.. it's easy to paint them as the slick plastic is easily wiped down after applying paint, I did it to touch up some spots. Maybe some florescent colors to offset it..

The initial paint work did go on while the protective film was still on it, and then just peal away the mess after. I used a good stiff brush to get in all the little corners and such.
