Characteristics 6; Implants?

By Fgdsfg, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

One question people, there is another way to say "this one is phisically superior to this other" with other thing that stats higher than 6?

Boost, Silouette or other characteristics?

I'm not sure I follow.

Do you mean another way to model high physical characteristics other than with Brawn? Or do you mean some sort of other terminology?

Sorry for the delay.

I was refering to an alternative way to mechanically say "with this implant/power/thing the PC has adquired a superhuman Brawn/Intellect/Other" than say that has more than 6 to an atribute.

Considering that exists (this is Fantasy/Ficction) a superhuman MUST have a 7 atribute or there is other way to mechanically describe it like saying "automatically gets X Success/Advantages when do things with that Stat" or just a simple "+1 Boost to that".

I'm asking for that because maybe increase further the dice pool can be annoying probably.

And another things that I just want to mentione. In my games, except two of them than have 5 to a pair of atributes, my "heroes" use to have 2,3 and 4 to stats. No need to be super-human to get the hero condition. A gardener in the street that tries to help an indefense alien from a pair of racists in the middle of Corelia has the "hero medal" for me, and his/her stats are 2 or above :D

But more important, people here have a lot of differents points if view, treat between us with respect please. Thing will be much better if respect other ones.

Is not the same say that "Desslok's penguin avatar is a bulls***" than "I prefer another one but ok if its fine to you".

PS: Desslok, sorry for the sample, I love your avatar WHO CANNOT LIKE A PENGUIN AVATAR... WHO?!! XDD

"this ain't shadowrun" (especially from you maelora, I expect better.)

No offence intended, DR, I generally enjoy your posts.

What I meant by that is that, in some games like Cyberpunk or Shadowrun, it is considered the norm to have cybernetics.

In SW, it seems unusual, and the only cybered characters we see have their augmentations unwillingly. Poor old Valance the Hunter thinks he's a monster and hates droids because of his cyberware. I don't see many examples of happy, well-adjusted cyborgs in SW.

Heck, even EoE has Cratala from BtR, who is quite clearly a few jawas short of a sandcrawler.

But, y'know, your mileage may vary. As you've said, I quite happily rework 95% of the whole shebang, and I'm pretty sure someone could make a heavily cybered SW game that was also pretty cool.

I just personally find the cyber augmentations very munchkiny, and it doesn't feel consistent for PCs to casually augment themselves in a universe that frowns on such things. If your universe is more heavily-cybered, then go for it. My own canon is very different, yes, but I go to great lengths to keep it internally consistent.

Thinking about it, there was this one time where I used Cybernetics to great effect once. Mind you, it was completely the polar oppisite of happy, well adjusted cyborgs. It was during my Episode 1 era All Jedi game, during the height of the clone wars, the Confederacy was looking for the next big thing in battle droid technology and developed. . . well, these guys:

article-0-0C373E61000005DC-28_634x425.jp

The Techno-Union Research and Development department started kidnapping civilians (and clone troopers) and putting their living brains in state of the art droid hardware, coming up with an all new, wildly effective and deadly fighting machine. The first battle the confederacy deployed their Cybermen, it was a curb-stomping for the Republic - and once the players figured out why these battle droids were special, they (as in the players) went "ewww!"

I could totally see the Empire trying out a Dark Forces like project, with a unholy marriage of combat droid technology and fresh meat. And of course, as Cybermen are prone to do, the monster will get loose and overrun it's masters creating a scourge that the players will have to clean up before they get loose on the rest of the galaxy.

I was about to say, we're gonna fight here, son! Nobody insults the penguin!

I sense there is a really crappy joke in here!

Not that I have found in the current equipment or RAW.

I would think it would be easy enough to create talent-like boosts for individual pieces of cybernetics that improve a certain application of a skill. Think of them kinda like the upgrades for Mega-Attributes in Aberrant. One was called Atlas. It let you carry a whole heck of a lot extra encumbrance. Or one that increases punching injury. Stuff like that.

Yep, that would be a nice alternative too.

Generally, is something make you stronger that new "level adquired" would be applicable to every action/skill linked to that attribute, but, a minor upgrade (or the new effects of a cybernetic implant) could gran specific bonuses instead general ones.
