Using different language stuff in an official tourney?

By tjy100, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hi guys wanna ask

Is it legal to use x wing stuff of other language (namely pilot card & upgrades),

in an official FFG tourney?

Like how it is allow for mtg card game

Thx

I suspect it is legal to use official cards in other languages (this game is printed in other languages!) but if a rules question/dispute arises you will use the English cards to settle them.

The Tournament Rules list allowed products, with no exclusion based on language. If you have an FFG-printed TIE Fighter pack, that should be legal regardless.

I disagree with Steven about the English cards being what should be used to settle disputes. Ideally the language should be irrelevant, but if there are discrepancies they should be resolved based on the predominant language for the area where the event is being held. The reason for this, IMHO, is that there is no actual ruling citing precedent of one language over another. Lacking that, preference in language-based disputes should be granted to the one most players are accustomed to dealing with.

All rules disputes will be settled in Esperanto.

Usually, FFG does a pretty god job on localizations...

But under the suspicion that a given question is not clear because of the translation, I'd recommed to check in the original english FAQs and Rules, just to avoid complications.

I figured we would use Old Norse. You know, something with no written language. :)

Do we get to use Icelandic Thorns?

Ja

I'd prefer that all disputes be settled with a light saber battle.

No, they shall be settled the Klingon way. Both parties watch the Star Wars Holiday special. The first person to show pain loses.

I'm pretty sure you're thinking of French.

I'd do bad at that... I winced just at the thought.

Note that this is a very efficient use of time to resolve disputes, as it tends to be settled in seconds.

There is actually a rule about team-play. Players are allowed to talk tactics but must de audiable...but in what language?
