...GONNA GET A WAVE FOUR?!
...GONNA GET A WAVE FOUR?!
The hand-over to Disney could be causing problems with the approvals process, and as we've heard about the tenuous status of the EU, some of the ships planned for Wave 4 and beyond may no longer be canon (or canon enough).
But I think the chances are good that FFG has pretty much wrapped up Wave 4 development and is just waiting for a window to get it into manufacturing. I'm guessing that will be after the Rebel Transport and Corellian Corvette, but those products are about as mysterious as the Starfield Tiles, so who knows.
Someone at FFG told me that every time they see someone ask this in a thread, they push the next wave back by half a year.
WAVE FOUR...by 2112, or bust!
Chinese New year means that manufacturing is basically stopped for the majority of January. I would estimate that the earliest we would see anything is around March April, for actual releases. Having only just started playing I'm not sure how much time ahead FFG normally leaks their upcoming stuff.
Good point.
wave 3 was only just released a short time ago, they already have imperial aces on the go and potentially the transport and tantive IV coming
wave 4 so soon would be a little much
i'm still playing heavily on wave 2 models and have barely touched my wave 3 gear.. a wave 4 too soon will make the game move a little too quickly in my honest opinion
i'd much rather more pilots be released on the current ships we already have
this game already has so much diversity in list building, that it's a bit overwhelming at times. i can only imagine how new players that have just started are feeling
Edited by executorI know...but I would like to see what they are going to make, even if it takes three months to come out.
Don't give a hoot about wave 4 at this stage - still waiting for wave 1 re-runs to get to New Zealand.
Need some more X-Wings

Hanging out for a couple more X-Wings, a Y-wing, another TIE figher and Darth Vader's wagon. Doesn't seem right not to have that one.
Keep in mind that FFG has some Song of Ice and Fire games (Game of Thrones). Every time someone asks about Wave 4, not only is the announcement of wave 4 pushed back, but GRRM kills another Stark.
It's a vicious cycle.
-snip-Darth Vader's wagon. Doesn't seem right not to have that one.

They say that space is dark, and full of terrors.
I cannot put TIE Advanced to peg without saying....."I have you now!"-snip-Darth Vader's wagon. Doesn't seem right not to have that one.

Our friends are probably so sick of hearing that.
No they're not.

Where did you hear that? Sounds like urban myth to me. Would hardly be good business on the part of the big manufacturing companies.

It's a regional thing. At Christmas time in most Western countries, you see a drop off in work etc as companies close for the Christmas/New Year break for about two weeks. In a lot of Asian countries, the big thing is the Chinese New Year holiday period which occurs in January. A lot of kickstarters get caught out by it if there production run doesn't start until late December, it will often be delayed by an additional month due to the holiday period disruptions. Big companies are generally aware of it and plan around it so as to not have delays.

Start checking around, I've recently started seeing Wave one stuff in stores again over the last week so it must be filtering through the supply chains at the moment. Where previously I hadn't been able to find X-Wings or Tie Fighters in Brisbane, I've been walking into stores on the weekend to find them holding half a dozen copies of each on their shelves.
But surely it's only like a couple of days of big shutdown? Companies in the west don't shut down for weeks around Christmas and New Year, it's seems surprising that a company so reliant on manufacturing would allow it's manufacturing companies such prolonged downtime?
Well the below info is from Wikipedia :
Public holiday [ edit ]Chinese New Year is observed as a public holiday in a number of countries and territories where a sizable Chinese population resides. Since Chinese New Year falls on different dates on the Gregorian calendar every year on different days of the week, some of these governments opt to shift working days in order to accommodate a longer public holiday. In some countries, a statutory holiday is added on the following work day when the New Year falls on a weekend, as in the case of 2013, where the New Year's Eve (9 February) falls on Saturday and the New Year's Day (10 February) on Sunday.

So they shut for a week and as with many businesses, some of them will wind down up to a week prior due to lack of demand of services, which makes things difficult if you need a specialty part for tooling a plastic injection mold etc.
Oh well, can't really complain can we - the workers probably don't get half the time off we get!
