Team Game Problem

By Carnate, in StarCraft

Hi

I played a lot of team games with my friends but last time we noticed an interesting. In one of the scenarios the rule book says: your teammate may choose whether he destroys your base or not.... . And it means that your teammate in a normal game has to destroy your bases, etc., just like an opponent does. Is it true? Because I think this makes team game a bit strange, because your teammate is like an opponent.

Well I don´t find it so surprising: It is essential that your ally in the team game is considered an enemy for the game purposes, therefore yes he may even destroy your base. That´s how the game works, your ally is actually an enemy. You just don´t intentionally attack each other

IMO the sentence of the scenario doesn't makes sense because you never end up in an area which contains a base of your ally. Only the second part about the resource cards makes sense, because your teammate gets the resource cards of empty areas if he has a base on the planet.

Have a look:

Page 42 SC rulebook: "A player's teammate's areas are considered enemy areas for all game purposes."

and:

"Players may not attack their teammates, nor move into areas controlled by their teammates."

So what control means? Page 17 of the SC BW rulebook:

"A player controls an area if he has at least one unit or base in the area, ..."

So if I get it right there is absolutely no way of moving in an area containing a base of your ally.

Furthermore an area can't be friendly if it is containing a base of an ally, so this scenario sentence is a conflinction to the rules..

So is this a mistake in the scenario description?

What if an opponent stands on the area that contains one of your teammates' base? Can you attack it or not? If yout can attack it, and if you win, you have to destroy your teammate's base then. So this way you can destroy your teammate's base.

Well if I get it right yes you can attack an opponent who occupies the base of your ally and than if your units survive you must choose. Either you destroy your units and save the base or you decide that units are more important which will lead to the destruction of that base. Please anybody correct me if I am wrong

Sounds odd, but I guess that's the way it works. Fortunatly, allies in Starcraft never last very long !

If you plan your things right, your units on your "ally" base could be removed eventually with another mobilize. So you have to take that decision at the regrouping phase, and not at the end of combat.
