Working on a Starwing

By Gosric, in X-Wing

For a request and im not sure about it. I know there a lot of variations from the iffy computer game version to the gorgeous renderings on fractal sponge. I wanted to make both sets of wings adjustable and it will work as it is. But im not sure if it is too bulky with the large hinges on the top of the missile pods. The hinges for the wings have to be that large due to print material limitations. it could be sleeker but then the top wings will have to be static. I like it this way personally but im not making for myself. What do you guys think?

i know the top guns are not on it yet and there is a conspicuous lack of detail, but it is still in the early stages

I'm conflicted. It looks great either way, and while I do like detail, the folding wings on the Lambda was one of my favorite features, even if it isn't really significant. It does make it easier for storage, though, so I'd vote for that

Gosric,

leave the smaller, upper fins static (too small to make a decent looking hinge) but make the main wings foldable. That;s my two cents.

Chris

The lower wings are going to fold either way. It was the top ones i was debating with myself over. So far it seems static top folding lower is the way to go

Actually i completely forgot the small but sturdy internal hinge i made when building a small scale mobile suit. Now both sets fold, are sturdy enough to be handled and the bulk on top is minimized. How about this version?

And should anyone be interested. A work in progress shot. I will admit i like the the way it is coming out so far.

Hell ,Yes!

I want one!

Chris

Glad you like it. I just need to finish the detailing, shouldnt be more than a couple of days. And i solved my earlier wing problem now both sets fold without all the bulk

And it is complete. I will freely admit im pretty pleased with it.
