Big 3 Build

By Crabbok, in X-Wing

Is it possible to cripple the opponents with 2 Rebel Captives on one ship? I can see some pros and cons and work-arounds, but all in all it might be worth it. Is that coupling legal? it seems to me each would resolve separately, giving one enemy 2 stress tokens if he tries to fire. That could really screw them up for several turns, allowing more maneuverable ships to come in behind them and blast them to pieces (yay interceptors!).

Rebel Captive is a unique, so you can only have one in your squad.

Rebel Captive is a unique card. Only 1 allowed.

This is my three stooges list!

2 BH's and ogp with darth leaves 10 points, either for gunner, seismic charges +2 3 point crew members or something else on the shuttle.

I also tried out 2 BH's (one with seismic) and ogp with fire control system, gunner and engine upgrade. I cant help thinking that advanced sensors on the shuttle could be nice, but fire control system makes gunner awesome.

I think Darth and a cheap shuttle is best, but how to spend those 10 points has got me wondering.

i think boosting ur offense on the bounty hunters is probably a good call eg. Gunner on each although i also like Recon Specialist as it helps u on defense as well.

if u go the recon specialist route that leaves 4pts.

2 seismics? anti-pursuit lasers?

I was very happy with 2 recon and 2 sesimics. Brown bomber suggest dropping seismics and upgrading to Yorr. I really like the ability to Kturn the BH's but if Vader is also in play he is shooting before te BH so you'd probably be hitting shields. You would be shooting first more though so you have to weigh that in as the basic omicron usually dies before it gets that last barrage in. Definite benefits to both ideas. I called my list Vader's Bounty.

although its the idea to rip some extra crits with vader its still very good stripping shields - i do this at every opportunity because i dont care if shuttle plus vader die and die fast - as long as they have inflicted max damage possible. ur lack of boost/k-turn means u will be taking a long time to wheel that bus around for a second pass. im working hard to develop some bump/stall tactics with a build that uses Omicron+Yorr+BH. thats PS2,4,3 so by keeping Omicron at the back of Yorr early on can effectively stall ur omicron in place - it costs u ur action for that round but if it keeps a ship in firing arc its worth it. i guess im thinking of a slightly different tactic to ur 2xBH+Omicron/vader squad so its all good. my goal is to get a 3-ship build working that uses 2 shuttles :)

how about this squad... ?

100pts

Bobba Fett + Expert Handling (41)

Captain Yorr + FCS + Gunner + Engine Upgrade (35)

Omicron Group Pilot + Darth Vader (24)

Hey y'all. I'm planning on trying a similar build, in that I'll use two Bounty Hunters, but I was thinking I'd also fly a couple of Ties at the same pilot skill, so I can always move them in whatever order I like. That leaves me eight points for upgrades. I was thinking either:

- Vader (crew) and Rebel Captive, leaving two points (a bomb?)

- Stealth devices for the Ties (again, two points left)

- Recon Specialists for the Firesprays (again, two points left)

- Shield upgrades for the Ties

- One Recon Specialist and one Gunner

I figured at pilot skill 3 there was no point getting engine upgrades since I won't know where to boost to.

What do people think would be best/most fun?

I don't know that Vader on your BH is the best idea but certainly report back with your successes. I have thought about it from time to time but it's 12pts more for killing a ship.

2 BH vs 2 shuttle is definitely different tactics. I think your list could spike damage early just as well as mine if not better. My end game is different though with he firespray Manu stability and rear arcs.

If you want to maximize your Vader-killing, put a gunner on your shuttle. you get to use Vader every time you attack, so if you shoot and then shoot again you can use Vader twice. Just remember to shoot you vader shots at low HP higher cost ships.

If you want your shuttle to actually do some dog fighting (survive past three turns of shooting) it really needs the engine upgrade.

How about this:

Bounty Hunter + Recon Specialist+ seismic =38

Omni + Darth Vader+ Intel agent =25

Black Squadron Pilot + Squad Leader= 16

"Howlrunner" + Push the Limit 3 = 21

You could go Yorr by dropping seismic and intel (or switch out PTL for elusivness) but then Black Squad can't hand actions to anyone but the BH. BH with double focus and Evade/TL is pretty potent... oh and then you have the regular howlrunner reroll too. That's pretty stacked.

BSP can still pass an extra action to omicron too :)

im just worried it still might be a little situational. if it was a Draw Their Fire instead on BSP u would have some shielding for howlrunner from crits.

i am starting to think big ship builds like these could be trouble by intercepters - which r thankfully not getting much play in my LGS :)

i really like Yorr + another fighter with PTL - seems like it should do crazy things turning any fighter with it into a mini-vader :)

wonder if it would be worht finding pts to upgrade Omicron to Yorr?

If you upgrade to Yorr BSP can't hand actions to anyone but BH.

BSP + squad leader is interesting as it could make those BH's really really tough, and if they spend resources taking out the BSP then they aren't shooting at your BH's. win/win. Also keeps focus/TL action for the space bus when they inevitably bump and it's one more ship to run your Albino Bison into for targeting purposes.

This would be a fun BIG 3 Build:
