Okay rules question

Tie Bomber - sorry can't remember the exact weapon as it was someone else's ship and I don't have it. But, he used a bomb on me that said 'take a face up damage card' or words to that effect, he said that meant even though I had shields I still had to take the critical effect as it didn't say shields cancel it. Is that right? Or were we missing something?

Nope that is correct. Proton bomb - deals a face-up damage card that ignores shields, Chewbacca's special ability, you name it. It's pricey but nasty.

He was right.

The Proton Bomb says it deals 1 face up damage card, which is a whole different thing then dealing 1 {crit} damage. That means that yes the bomb bypasses shields and everything else. It can with a Direct Hit! card one shot a A-Wing.

Thanks guys, thought we were probly right but wanted to make sure. :)

The Proton Bomb deals a ship a face up damage card.

I'm not entire sure which "Chewbacca" CrookedWookie is talking about but the ship flown by Chewie WILL turn that card over although you still have to take it. The way I am reading crewman Chewie's ability it seems to me it can be used to discard the card as it is dealt (and restore a point of shield if there are any missing) before getting discarded itself. For either Chewbacca to work the ship needs to get dealt a damage card instead of looking at if "damage" would be taken.

You're right, I was forgetting how pilot Chewie was worded.
