Undying question

By ddm5182, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Did an encounter last night with a leader that has Undying. The encounter card says that the leader "always succeeds on his first Undying roll." The leader was killed with a weapon that "ignores Undying."

What happens?

I read it that the leader would succeed at the Undying roll if he got to make one, but since the weapon denies him the chance to make one, he is just dead.

I would say you are dead on. Succeeding on an undying roll means that a monster has to roll for undying. If the undying ability is ignored, that monster stays dead and wouldn't normally roll. Hence, there is no roll to automatically succeed on.

And just FYI ddm5182:

If you have expansions so you have Treachery available to you, buy Crushing Blow as soon as you can and gun for the person with that item. That item is a nightmare for the OL.
