Help!

By coolfishboy, in X-Wing

Right so I going to a tournament soon, and I need help.

I want to play rebels, thats a given and I have access to-

4x-wings

1Y-wing

2 Yt-1300

3A-wings

3B-wings

3 Hwks

I was thinking about playing this-

Wedge, R2-D2, shield upgrade

Rookie Pilot

Rookie Pilot

Rebel oberative, ion turret

So what changes should I make? or should I stick as it is?

I like Wedge, and Hwks, but want some advice and ideas

This is a truly brutal list.

wow, I never thought of that, everyone always takes x-wings, but I like the idea of using b-wings,

B-Wings are the new X-Wings. There are excellent Chewbacca variations of this too, which give up a bit of PS and firepower for the ability to take 13 hits while ignoring all critical effects. :D

But yes, the B-Wings make excellent wingmen in this build. Although, to be fair, I've seen workable versions with A-Wings and Y-Wings as well, so maybe it's just that the YT is that good. ;)

Woah. I just want to mention that while you want to play Rebels it is also important to know what Imperial ships you have an thus what access you have to upgrades. If you wanted to fly a B-Wing in a tournament with Advanced Sensors and a HLC that is rather difficult to do as those upgrades are only found on Imperial ships. Maybe you don't care about upgrade availability but don't shoot the messenger for bringing up that issue.

With the Rebel ships you have listed you can fly just about anything short of maxing out a single ship type in a squadron. Looking at the original squadron my concerns are that you have too much invested into Wedge (37 points!) and I wonder how much you'll get out of the Ion HWK. I'm afraid that all your upgrades on Wedge really are NOT going to help keep him alive as he starts as priority #1 and giving him the chance to regenerate shields with R2DS screams "KILL ME FAST!" The HWK is a wildcard without the range, firepower, or maneuverability of the Rookies so how much are you going to get out of that Ion Turret.

Don't under estimate the Wedge, Jan, Ibti list. I flew that in a tournament and came second by the narrowest of margins to the Han list.

I defeated Super Fett and 4 Academy Pilots with a 100 - 0 win

Han and 2 Gold Ion Y's 100 - 33

and a Tycho list 100 - 0

I took out Han and had the 2 B's down to 1 and 3 Hull points respectively as well. I made some flying errors in that game, but make no mistake, the Han list is rock hard.

That's why I recommended the Rookie B--err, sigh, Blue Steel. No wait, Thunder. Whatever.
Just needs a couple HLCs, which DO come with the B-Wings. I run a 4x AdvS squadron, and while I love it, I cannot personally recommend anyone else run out and buy four shuttles just to do so. :P

err yep, let me just check....(dont play imperials often)

right here we are

8 Tie Fighters

1 Tie Advanced

3 Firesprays

3 Intercepters

1 Shuttle

4 Bombers

Some people have big lists for both sides, some focus on one side, and in this case it looks like upgrades aren't going to be an issue.

yep just things like advanced sensors, where I just dont want to buy another shuttle lol

How about-

Chewbacca, Gunner, mercenary co-pilot

Blue Squadron Pilot

Blue Squadron Pilot, Heavy Laser Cannon

This is pricey, but I played against Ibtisam + Advanced Sensors + HLC and it was brutal. Advanced sensor, focus, K-Turn, then fire the HLC with a re-roll since Ibtisam is stressed. A defense die can also be re-rolled.

If the enemy is stressed because they just K-turned they're going to take a beating.

This is pricey, but I played against Ibtisam + PTL + Advanced Sensors + HLC and it was brutal. Push the Limit to K-Turn and focus, then fire the HLC with a re-roll since Ibtisam is stressed.

I don't think what you're saying there works. PtL doesn't let you K-Turn and focus. Advanced Sensors would allow you to Focus and then perform the K-Turn but if you use PtL before trying to K-Turn you WILL be Stressed which PREVENTS the K-Turn; in that situation you hand your opponent your dial and he can set it to any non-stressful maneuver he likes.

PtL + AS do work well together as you can use PtL to get stressed with AS and THEN perform a maneuver non-stressful; ideally a GREEN maneuver to let you DUMP the PtL stress. PtL is also nice on Ibtisam as it is an easy way to get Stress with a benefit but if you are going for a stressed Ibtisam then AS+PtL doesn't really work as a great combo.

That combo gives you options but you still need to manage stress and ending your turn stressed makes Advanced Sensors worthless.

If you don't have AdvS, and you want the Blues, putting FCS on them isn't bad. Frees up a couple of points, and with Chewie especially it helps bolster their firepower a bit for the fact it's a more tanky squad than with Han.

If you want to help force your opponent to give up Focus putting the Sensor Jammer on a B-Wing isn't all bad. You're telling your opponent that you either spend that focus to hit my easy to hit B or you're going to miss more; if you do you are now going to be easier to hit it retaliation as you don't have the Focus to keep my attacks from hitting.

I actually prefer Chewie with something like Expert Handling, but I've seen DTF used to good effect with him.

And bad effect.

I wouldn't recommend the HwK without either both intelligence agent and the blaster turret, or the ion turret. You don't ever want to be stuck with that 1 attack dice.

But if all you have a HWK serving as a mobile turret then I prefer Y-wings.
