Just did a Firespray - not perfect but I'm liking the way the colors came out. I mixed a few custom blends to get a darker chrome and a purple-ish color.

I was going to try that, repainted a TIE all black and then went over the highlights in chrome, but it's just so hard to be accurate with the wing panels. They are so thin and so tiny - it never fails I usually have a brush spillover into the black area at least once per wing, so then I have to go back and blacken it up again. I did a regular chrome TIE last night and it looked kinda poor, plus it took me almost 2 hours. I don't know if it's worth it TBH.
Blood Squadron looks a hell of a lot meaner after the wash.

I didn't do a wash on the A-Wing. I may eventually, but I want it to be the brightest of the squadron, figuring on how it's both the newest, and the fastest... it should be all shiny and such, at least for now.
The A-Wing looks great! May I suggest you colour the guns and maybe a panel or two though to make them stand out a bit more? The guns could still have the silver tips, but I suggest black to make them more noticeable, because they blend with the body a little too much.
My college's colors are Red & Black, so this is kinda cool in that way for me. Definitely like the A-wing, the more I look at it

I don't think I'm going to do any of the panels - mostly because I wan this ship to have more of that "Brand New" look - and different colored panels to me, represents a ship that has had repairs, and been patched up etc. I did consider it though. I will absolutely go back and do the guns in black however, because I agree with you, they do blend in a bit much and could certainly benefit from standing out a bit more.
