Edge of the Jedi: An unofficial Jedi Supplement for EotE

By DarthGM, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Good Day, FFG community!

I've been working on a home-brewed Jedi Career supplement for about a year now and wanted to share it with the community. I needed it because I had a campaign with Jedi in it in Saga and wanted to move it over to the FFG system. After months of playtesting and inspiration form the D20 Radio readers (and Donovan Morningfire's own Ways of the Force document) I'm now on version 1.03.

These rules are mostly for Jedi in other eras, not the pure Edge of the Empire/Age of Rebellion setting. If you're doing a Dark Times campaign, or one in the New Republic, or even Legacy or KotOR, these rules are for you. If you're in the Rebellion era, where the Jedi are all but extinct, I'd go with Dono's document.

The document is on Google Drive, so the quality of colors looks horrible. Download it and the actual pdf looks much better.

Feedback is always welcome.

Enjoy!

Edge of the Jedi, v1.03

Cool. A little surprised Force Rating isn't a prereq for the forms. I know others have learnt how to use a Lightsaber, but I wouldn't have thought they'd be able to do it as well (skill only, perhaps). Some of them have been explained to me as incorporating precognitive combat abilities and Force-enhanced reflexes in their use. I thought stuff like Juyo, especial its Vaapad derivation, skirted the edge of the Dark Side.

I allowed anyone to enter the Forms trees because you get folks like Greivous who were trained in certain styles of Lightsaber combat, and the Taipani Nobles (Lords of the Expanse) who's moves incorporate Makashi. However, at key junctions in the tree Force Talents are introduced which block off deeper sections (and the higher mastery talents and forms, too).

Juyo, while skirting the Dark Side, is still a "traditional" Lightsaber form and was taught to select Jedi. GMs are free to have in-game reprecussions for Jedi who take and use Juyo (especially Juyo Master).

:)

Got ya. A very slick production - well done.

Very nice, at first glance looks completely balanced and useable. Good career skill choices...even though I never was a fan of the Guardian/Consular/Sentinel thing, you've done a nice job adapting it. I also like that you went with 3 different saber styles instead of one for each form. Thanks!

My family and I have been using this system for a few weeks now and it's a ton of fun! Lots of good talents and plenty of character growth.

We also used the rules as is for an Imperial Knights game that has been a rollercoaster of fun! Starting with 600 extra xp the knights are ripping up everything. Not to say they are broken though. Put them in a social situation as anything more than a threat and they are hosed!

Give this a try! Hours of fun for those who can't wait for Force & Destiny.

As I've mentioned many times before, this is by far my favorite fan-take on the "Jedi as careers" approach to including Jedi PCs to EotE or AoR games.

Granted, I've not used any of these in a game, but the design of the talent trees is pretty solid, especially as the non-Form trees don't make excessive use of homebrew talents (a major problem I've seen with other attempts of doing a full-blown Jedi career).

Thanks, nicely done
