Maps and Character Tokens

By Castlecruncher, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hello all! I was looking around the Internet and saw a good amount of paper character miniatures from someone. However, the only high quality ones that might be suitable for a game were all from a few people, and they were very specific (made specifically for the group). Also, whenever I look up maps for Star Wars, I either get the galaxy or maps you buy.

I bring this up because while it's good to roleplay scenes, with some groups it can be better to have representation of what is happening. For example, I have a larger group I want to try using maps and character pieces (miniatures or tokens), so we can easier all know what's happening.

So, I suggest we make a compilation of maps and tokens for those GMs that want to use them. I understand if you don't agree with maps, although it does make the game easier when everyone knows what's happening.

If anyone has maps or character pieces available in their files that could be printed out, I'sd appreciate if you could post them here. Thanks in advance!

Be careful when sharing things like tokens or maps made from images you didn't make from scratch. That runs into the rights of the original holder of the copyright. Personal use is generally ignored, but sharing with others isn't personal use.

Huh. I didn't know that.

Well then, I suppose pre-approved or self made maps/character pieces are still fine. I just don't have any programs that can maker my own with a high quality.

Hi

swminiatures.com used to have a free (and empty) grey, green and sand map with squares. If you can find the maps (I tried to look but the site is down) you can print them, laminate them and then use a White board pen to draw on the maps.

If I find them I will let you know. Happy hunting!

Seconded. I've used their TokenTool to make lots of character and vehicle tokens for our games. It's pretty simple and really user-friendly.

We usually buy one of those large (2 foot by 3 foot?) pads of grid paper and use those for maps. The simple range band system EotE has causes some oddities every now and then but it does help a lot to keep people on the same page for everything's position.

Thanks! I'll check out RPTools sometime. And I'll also see about getting some laminated mats...
