Donovan Block three order

By Monkey D. Wolfwood, in UFS Deck Building

Another deck I made tonight. It was going to be either donovan or sogetsu, but its been awhile since I made the D man so here we go.

...Donovan...

3x 5/4 Tag Along
4x 2/3 Malevolent Genius +1M

4x 6/3 Kuzuryu Reppa +1H M:1 (most likely be changed to Lunar Slash if i get some)
4x 4/3 High Plasma Beam +1H
4x 3/3 Mega Spike +2H

3x 3/5 Experienced Combatant +2M
3x 3/5 Past Shrouded in Mystery +3L
4x 3/4 Chinese Boxing +3M
3x 2/5 Psycho Style
4x 2/5 Familial Loyalty +2M
3x 2/5 Tenacious +1M
3x 2/5 Strife's Patronage +0H
2x 2/4 Charismatic +2H
4x 1/5 Fore Thought +1M
4x 1/5 Aquakinesis +3H
4x 1/5 Personal Style +2M
2x 1/5 Dormant for Millions of Years
3x 1/6 Makai High Noble +1H

Pretty Straight forward card draw and lock down. It was going to be sogetsu but I only have one Blue Dragon. I was going to add in Natural Leader but i think i'll add those when I get the lunar slash, so for now its Mega Spike for the momentum for Kuzuryu.

Any comments on the deck are welcome and any criticism.

I might be missing something but i would drop Malevolent Genius. I assume you don't have any but id reccomend running BRTs to compliment forethoughts.

Might want to go to one on charisma, unique cards tend to be olcadan fodder. Id try to fit in some seals to help with the negation. Maybe replace Malevolent with SoC.

Id up Makai to a four of, its a 1/6 +1H and no reason not to run four. Id personally make experienced combatant a four of instead of running dormant. Yes EC takes two cards, but you get to commit two things at the start of opponents turn as opposed as a R to them commiting you.

Also since no loop if you want to help checks maybe replace Mega Spikes with LotM. Using tenacious for repeated turns of Multipled Reppa to Fweem could get tough to deal with, lol.

And where is the owlface? 0/6 that gets rid of pesky foudnations...again on reason not to run it

so basically id recomend:

-4 Malevolant Genoius

-4 Personal Style

-2 Dormant for Millions of Years

-1 Charisma

-1 Mega Spike

-1 Fweem

-1 Past Shrouded In Mystery

+4 Seal of Cessation

+4 Olcadan's Mentoring

+4 Lord of the Makai

+1 Experienced Combatant

+1 Makai High Noble

Remove Charisma and Past Shrowed (both of which are "specific" negation) for SoC which can negate anything.

SOME kind of momentum generation <outside Mega Spike, which you're probably playing virtually every turn as a bluff/draw engine> would be very welcome to make Reppa more effective. Be it LotM or Natural Leader or whatever, just get it in there ;) .

For the most part tho, looks pretty solid. IMO you would benefit from tweaking the numbers on your attacks (when do you really need 4 Reppas) and some of the foundations (Past Shrouded imho isn't a 3x card, Personal Style isn't tremendously better in multiple copies, etc etc), and adding Olcadan's. I definitely disagree with cutting Malevolent Genius for Seal, this deck doesn't have the money to play the hardball control game {read: no Defender loop} so being able to have a Stun:2 slow attack to potentially draw huge off of is a big advantage.

Also, find room for the 4th Makai High Noble, even if there's no Mentorings on your opponent's side it fuels Forethought, Psycho Style, Personal Style, control checks, and does well blocking Spike.
