Worst ending to a game EVER!

So I just finished a crazy game on vassal. Most of the game went the way of my opponent, it seemed whenever he needed a key kill he got it. I was able to slowly whittle away at his, even though my shots were pretty bad. I think my hlc with focus and 1 reroll from krassis had 2 or 3 separate attacks that only got 1 hit dice out of 4.

Near the very end it came down to his blue bwing with 1 hull left vs my krassis with 1 hull and an academy tie with full 3 hull.

After moving krassis had no shot unfortunately, but the bwing and tie were at range 2 of each other. His bwing had done a barrel roll before a k turn so he was stressed and had no focus or target lock. My tie however had a focus. I knew as long as I survived his shot, especially if I still had my focus, I was virtually assured to take him down. Unfortunately he rolled 2 crits and a hit, and I rolled 1 evade and 2 blanks. One crit was a minor explosion and I rolled a hit for it....dead.

Luckily with krassis still alive and able to shoot first I still had a chance to win. I did a 4k turn to give me as big a firing range as possible with my hlc. His move with a barrel roll put him just out of range for me but not for him and he rolled 3 perfect hits AGAIN and I rolled 2 blanks and a focus...dead.

That one hurt bad...to come back from many unlucky breaks only to have it all blow up in my face at the end.

You may have been better off not K-turning and taking an action, as opposed to relying on the HLC. I know with Krassis, it's tempting, and I'd have likely done the same thing. Hindsight is always 20/20

Like I said I was trying to get as much distance as possible to maximize my firing arc. I could have done a 4 straight instead of a 4k to get a action. However I had the reduced primary crit. So I thought 4 dice without a action was better than 2 with.

The problem with not doing the k-turn with the fire spray, is it often puts you out of position for the next turn.

Sounds to me like you had a bad day with the dice. It happens. But I usually would prefer to lose do to bad rolling rather than bad flying on my part. Those games I have no one to blame but myself.

In a one on one I'd prefered to not do the K-turn as it was probably expected and instead go for a sharp turn and use rear auxilary shot. The B-wings 1 Agility should not be able to save the day against a normal 3 die shot from an unexpected angle. Now you did the obvious move and got outmanuevered. Add in a pile of lucky dice and its game over =)

Never under estimate the rear fire arc and 3 die fire with Bounty Hunters

lady luck is a greedy ***** with itchy palms and a bad case of the gimmes

the dice make a good game go south reeeeeal quick.
