Rashotep Boxtopper Promotion

I really like this promotion.

I really DON'T like the May 1st deadline. The set's probably not going to hit some stores 'til the 17th, that only gives two weeks to buy your box, which some folks will have to save up for. I wish they'd extend it by about two weeks into May, to account for the set's delay.

I noticed this, and it is awesome.

I did NOT, however, notice the May 1st part, so I'm very glad I read this thread :P

I have a small quandary about your concern.

1) People knew that Set 12 was coming. People knew it was coming for ever. People were expecting Set 12 to hit at the same weekend that the Third Anny sealed event was coming.

2) People were complaing that they are going to have to wait until this weekend to get their hands on set 12, and that it was too long to wait.

3) People are aware the product is going to be legal for PotM, as well as regionals in the next few weeks.

For the people who will only have "two weeks" to save up to buy a box... boxes in UFS are not that expensive. You're not going to break the bank buying a box of UFS, especially when you've known for months that it's coming.

They've announced it to coincide with the pre-release so people buying boxes this weekend can get their receipts, and take advantage of it right away.

It's not like they waited for two weeks after the pre-release and then announced it.

Besides... how hard will it be for people to pick up an extra character? One of my players is buying 10 boxes... I doubt he's the only player in North America doing that. I get the feeling there will be a few extra Rashoteps floating around.

Granted most people knew about set 12 months in advance, that really shouldnt matter, especially with the economy being the way it is. Its 2 weeks. I dont think anyone would be upset if it got extended to a whole month or until supplies last.

Promotions should benefit all people. New player or veteran, Skilled or scrub, casual or competitive. Not just the people who buy the most packs the fastest.

If it's the same Rasho that's been around forever, he's not even worth the postage used to send the top of the box.

Seriously.

Also, 'goth, sometimes things happen. Like speeding tickets. I had everything saved for Set 12, and now I can't buy anything for a while. Especially not if I want to go to the Canadian Nationals.

It certainly CAN benefit all players, but within this time frame, and within its capacity.

For instance, if you were to argue that it should benefit all players, then we should allow for this promotion to benefit people that play this game that have absolutely no money right now, right? ...

Listen people knew about this release MONTHS IN ADVANCE. You have like three weeks to save up 70 bucks or so to buy a box. For those that were going to buy 6 packs, they can partner up with someone else that already bought a box and might need another, and throw their 6 packs in for exchange of Rashotep promo.

And how is this promo card NOT benefitting all players, when its a PROMO being given to the community to someone FOR FREE (minus the stamp to mail it to FFG). Now that promo (and maybe six other copies of it) is in that players playgroup where it was not before.

I get what you are saying . Just extend the promotion to last for 2 more weeks. heck why not 2 more months. why not two more years? Why?!?

There are marketting reasons (makes one want to go out and maybe impulse buy the box, or makes sales for gaming stores be more of a quicker return, which is always a plus for gaming stores). If this promotion was extended indefinitely, some people might put it off (the buying of a box) and then forget about it. A deadline makes this limited time promotion seem more limited and exclusive and significant. It also puts less strain on FFG resources to have to allocate this task to someone to do for the next two years instead of just the next two weeks.

So there are reasons deadlines in this case are good. Think about it.

Though an extra week would be nice. :)

Nash out.

Precedence says those box-topper promotions were given a month. Since the set was delayed two weeks, will it really cost them that much to extend the promotion for two weeks?

I'm just asking is all.

I'm not saying "The next two years." nor "Indefinitely". Just... the next two weeks.
