Can I ask... Does anyone else do this for casual play?
I have printed out a number of cards over time to use for casual play... I usually back them on real extra cards or on nice stock, so they feel exactly like real cards... But I could never imagine buying entire ships to get a simple card I can make a copy of myself. This seems sort of rare, though... Does anyone else do this?
You mean proxies? It's not an uncommon practice in other games amongst casuals, but you obviously can't use them in tournaments.
I bought a bunch of ships so I could build any possible 100 point squad, so I'm generally fine for cards unless we have 2+ games going on simultaneously at my place, but I printed out proxies for the new Imperial Aces pack.
I printed some upgrades and the new interceptor cards to use either in solo games for testing or in casual games just for fun.
Honestly, it doesn't make sense to buy multiple copies of ships you won't use just to get cards unless you're a serious tournament player.
Yeah, I won't ever play tournaments, so for me it just makes no sense to buy for cards. Instead I make a bunch of whatever cards I want, and as long as I keep the quality up it doesn't bother me.
I have proxies printed of a few commonly used cards (push the limit, r2, advanced sensors). Honestly though, I usually just build my squad on a squad builder and forgoe the cards entirely, unless I'm playing with someone who really wants to see the cards on the table. Printing out the squad builder lists is easy, plus you can mark up your squads with lost shield points, used ordnance, and discarded shield points.
I just buy more ships, i trying to get another advanced sensors, so i guess i will buy another lambda as no one wants to give them away currently lol
I printed a few proxies but only of ships that I could not get in my local store...Mainly the R2 droid from Y-wings, then I got carried away and printed a load of PTL cards. I laminated them (thanks work

I will only use them in casual play, as most tournies don't allow them.
Frankly, I simply use a print-out from Excel or one of the online squadron-builders even if I do own the cards.
That stack of cards with tiny script and piles of tokens on it is probably the worst "rules-reference" ever devised for any game. A single A4 sheet of paper with all the ships and all the abilities on it beats it every time.
Nope I refrain myself from printing proxying anything. It is just so much more satisfying to get good with what you have and then the real enjoyment from buying something new. Yes I am still using luke instead of a gunner
, but almost all of my friends play casual.
But if you are a hardcore tournament player playing 4+ matches a week... I guess you could proxy something for testing.

I don't print out cards, just use Battle Scribe and print out the list if needed. I would however for large games at like 200-300 points. I'm still early in collecting though and aim to get four copies of most ships in the long run.
I just end up buying what I need over time, but I am not turney player so not being the most competitive possible doesn't bug me one bit.
I print cards for ships that I make or those which I order from Shapeways. I sometimes print the cards which people have posted here. My friends and I play casual games every week, so we try all kinds fo cool things.

I do the same. It is much easier and less cluttered than using the. Cards. Though I do have the cards. Setup is much faster too
