FFG now releasing Tournament Kits
Looks like we need a tourney soon Tim. Need me some shiny tokens :-)
Must... have... Colonel Jendon...
What do they look like!!!
Words cannot describe how much I NEED those Seismic Charge tokens.
We went from no info from FFG to a couple major announcements in a couple days....it is like Christmas all over again!
I just wants epic rules. That's all.
I can't seem to find the link in the store. I have to do all the leg work for my store to order any kits.

Order me one or two while you're at it?

I wish I could order it, it would make running X-wing much much easier on me. I have to find the link and the info on the kits then bring print outs to the store owner so he can order it. X-wing is not a top priority for the store because it is not as popular as Magic.
Edit:
Found it. http://store.fantasyflightgames.com/productdetails.cfm?SKU=GSX05

Retailers only.
Surprised (and annoyed) to see the unique/common counts flip on this one. It's normally 2 unique and 17 generic. So on this one, of course we have one of the most popular generic pilots (Dagger) with only 2 copies, and a unique that pretty much nobody uses (Jendon) gets a binderful. I guess they need even more ways to sell the shuttle ![]()
I am surprised we're getting ion/seismic tokens before evades. Not complaining, they'll do fine, but evade is a far more common need.
They fixed the cards. It now says:
- Two movie still versions of Colonel Jendon
- Seventeen movie still versions of Dagger Squadron Pilot
Happy dance!

I'm guessing that the Evade tokens are going to be in either the Store Championships kit or, more likely, this year's Regional kit, like last year with the Focus tokens.

I better study up on my game then. It's a shame I didn't get into the game until after S1. So, presuming the Evade tokens are left for Regionals (Store champs are already revealed - it's range rulers and card boxes)... what's left for the future?
Range ruler - 2012 Regionals
Target Locks - Season 1 game night
Focus - 2013 Regionals
Shields - Season 2 game night
Stress - Season 3 game night
Range ruler (#2) - 2014 Store champs
Card box - 2014 Store champs
I'm not including the stuff for top 8/16 at Gencon/Worlds as they're not widely available to everyone. And my guess is it will continue to be acrylic templates at Gencon/Worlds.
By my count, the only tokens left would be the critical damage token. It's interesting that they're remaking the range rulers, even though they were previously available. My guess is that the season 4 game night kit will have TL in them again (after all, a single set goes for >$50 on ebay right now). Though I suppose they should make the acrylic critical damage tokens, even if most people don't use them. I don't really see them ever making the acrylic proximity mine, I'm actually kinda surprised they're making the acrylic seismic charge. Acrylic asteroids anyone?
I wonder if they're ever make "special" tokens as a set. I'm thinking something like a pack of tokens containing 6 "Maneuver" tokens, indicating the pilot did a barrel roll / boost, 5 EPT (marksmanship, expose, squad leader) tokens, 2 Droid (R2-F2, R5-D8) tokens, 2 (Sabetour) Crew tokens or something of the sort. I would prefer those over the LCG prize support of different picture playmats and different picture card boxes.
An acrylic proximity mine will be BIG, which is probably why we haven't seen them so far. For the amount of plastic involved, I' wouldn't expect to see more than 2-3 in a kit. Since the acrylics seem to typically be intended as participation prizes rather than top prizes, that wouldn't work well.
Proton Bomb, Evade and Critical Effect are the only tokens (rather than templates) that we haven't seen in acrylic yet. I don't know if we'll see tokens that weren't in the main set, but if we do I'd expect to see generic effect trackers, such as EPT, Droid, etc. I doubt we'll see boost/barrel roll - they don't have any sort of ongoing effect, so the only use for them would be to remind people that you'd already taken the action. Some may find a need for that, but the number of times that comes into play is relatively small in the game, and easily remembered when it matters. Same goes for crew - not that it might not change in the future, but all the crew currently in the game are either immediate or always-on, so there's little need for tracking tokens.
I'm hoping that once they've done all (or all they intend to do) that they start over again in the Game Night Kits - another set of Target Locks, Shields, etc. That way it will be a relatively constant way of getting the acrylic tokens without resorting to eBay. Plus new players would always have an opportunity to get them as well.

Except Saboteur as I previously mentioned. Yeah, I'd expect it to be generic EPT / Droid tokens, I was just listing out all of the action based ones. I gotta be honest, seeing some of those 3rd party droid tokens makes me jealous that I don't have any.

Saboteur is an immediate effect - it's done and gone, there's no lingering state to track. The only thing to remember is whether you've done it this turn, which I think most people manage to do just fine.

Am I the only one not impressed at all at these tournament packs?

Agreeing with you 100%. When you look at what Whizkids is doing with Star Trek Attack Wing... FFG is way, way behind and X-Wing has been out for a lot longer!
The only point I will give Wizkids is the scenarios for their tournament series. I'm sorry if game altering elements, prize only ships and powerful elements only available by attending the tournament, is something I'm not keen on. I can't always tell when I will be able to attend a tournament. And if I miss a key week, I'm out of a potentially powerful element. Not to mention, them using unique ships as prizes that are unlikely to be seen soon as a regular release. I mean, even with the vomiting of new ships that Wizkids is going to start this summer, I don't see the Ferengi, Gorn, or Tholian ships on the schedule yet. Pity if you wanted them.
Yes, the stuff isn't super exciting. But, I like them. Not game altering, so I don't have to stress about making a tournament or not, or whether I must win.
I wouldn't mind if they released special edition ships, as in either a Wedge Bacta Wars painted X wing, or even a YT-2000 that you could fly in place of the YT-1300. As long as they were 100% aesthetic changes only. If that was the case, I'd think that those would be the regional prize support. As far as game nights, it seems like most of the guys I play with end up with that stuff as the game night kits are a dime a dozen around here (Several stores order several kits). As such, the acrylic stuff is more of an indication of how long you've been playing, not neccessarily how well you play. The regional and gencon/worlds stuff is actually relatively unique (how often do you see dice bags being used? Not like I really care about the dice bag either.. but the acrylic templates would be awesome).
*shrug. It's something to promote people to play at their local stores instead of their basements. In that regard, its a good package.

Its completely ok for me that x-wing grows slower. I don't even know how many waves of Attack Wing are out yet. I completely lost track of it.
