Please define "personal las weapon." Basic and Pistol, not Heavy/Mounted?
Imperial Guard bonus
The idea was only weapons you're carrying, so Heavy yes, mounted no. Maybe say "non-Mounted" perhaps?
Or it could indeed just be Pistol/Basic.

Sorta cool, but it shoehorns the guardsmen players into just las weapons.
And I imagine a lot of guard background PCs will end up taking the Warrior Role, whose ability invalidates this one a little.
I
I'd prefer that to remain a talent to be honest.
How about the one that gives their attacks Pinning? I liked that one in OW - it made the guy whose thing was that he was good at shooting good at shooting.
I'm intending to pillage the OW books for talents anyways, since the aptitude system carries over so well. So something new would be preferable.
I like where guardsmen are. Being able to switch weapons for free is a fun bonus. Slightly better QuickDraw, but also only works on basics.
However making the background bonus only apply to guns is a little annoying. No benefit for melee Guardsmen.
Off the top of my head suggestions:
Hammer of the Emperor
Guardsmen Characters may reroll one damage die per combat.
Shield of Humanity
Guardsmen may spend a reaction to make a +10 dodge test when an ally within 5 meters is hit by an attack. If they succeed, they move to their ally, and the attack hits them instead.
OR
Once per encounter, guardsmen may take 2 points of fatigue to gain Unnatural Toughness +4 for a turn
Comfortable in the ways of War
Guardsmen count combat armour such as Flak, Carapace and Power armour as having an AG cap of 10 higher.
They also gain +2 SB for determining carry weight
(Now stormtroopers can actually operate in their armour)
Squad Tactics
Guardsmen gain +2 WS or BS per ally up to 5 within 10 meters who are attacking the same target as them
Edit: I actually agree with cps. That was an awesome ability. Maybe a little too good though. And still favours only shooting
Edited by FelenisGreat suggestions, thanks all!
Obligatory begging for two abilities to choose from. Variety is the best.
Also, thanks for reading and responding. Nice to know everything is getting looked at

This is a very good trick indeed. Get's nasty with a heavy flamer though

This is an excellent idea.
How about this?
Hammer of the Emperor: The Guardsman coordinates his strikes with his comrades, mercilessly devastating his foe. After successfully attacking the same target that an ally attacked since the end of the Guardsman’s last turn, the Guardsman’s attacks gain the Proven (3) quality, or +2 to the Proven quality if his attacks already had that quality.

I like the idea but i think the ability itself is pretty "bleh" and overcomplicated. What about allowing the character to always replace one damage roll with the number of DoS he scored during the attack test? And not just when he has multiple hits/damage dices.

Isn't that already a thing?
For all attack rolls, count the degrees of success. The attacker
can replace the result on a single damage die with the number of
degrees of success from his attack roll. If the attack inflicts more
than one hit or more than one die of damage, the attacker can
replace the result on one die of his choice with the degrees of
success from the attack roll.

I really don't like proven, it feels really lame. The only time it was decent was the triplex in OW which had Proven (5)
Maybe if it worked like this:
Proven (X): When damage is rolled and it is under (X) you may reroll the damage dice. Reroll stands

Oh yeah, thanks, slight typo. I meant, the bonus would be DoS+1 (or +2). Or the character could apply the bonus to multiple damage dices (say, to all damage rolls in case of multiple hits).

Change it to something other than Proven. Proven isn't actually that good - the difference in average damage is negligible.
