Statting out the Ssi-Ruuk
If they don't get a bite attack, why not? They're clearly built for it.
Why not = because not every observable biological feature that's better than the norm needs a special stat to represent it.
Alright, here's what I'm thinking. I primarily am using Wookieepedia and everyone's input as my basis.
3 Brawn and 1 Presence. I decided Presence felt more appropriate for a 1 rating than Agility because of this line present in the Wookieepedia article: "It was knows that their race moved with remarkable grace and speed for creatures of their size." Presence to me makes sense due to their lack of interactions with the other species in the galaxy.
WT: 12 + Brawn. I had originally thought of going with a higher WT to represent their durability as opposed to the Enduring talent, but due to my lack of solid ideas for Special Abilities, and the following quote from the Wookieepedia article, I thought the Enduring talent fit the species quite well. "Their skin was so thick that it could withstand blaster shots with only minor burns to show for it." Also, assuming the player roleplays as I believe they will, they will not be wearing any clothing or armor aside from bandoleers and slings.
ST: 10 + Willpower. 10 ST seems to make sense since I the Ssi-Ruuk seem to have fairly average mental capacities (they aren't prone to rage like the Wookiees, for example).
Starting XP: 90
Special Abilities: A Ssi-Ruu begins with 1 rank in the Enduring talent due to their naturally thick and resilient skin.
Due to having a high WT and "average" ST, combined with the Enduring talent, I'm hesitant to give the species additional qualities. Is this fair or should I include something else?
I chose to not include Claws as a special trait since I'm unsure of how effective they are in actual combat. The only reference I can locate in the article only states that they are used to "kill prey as they [are] carnivores by nature." I may very likely be wrong but I interpret this to mean small prey.
Thoughts?
I like Castlecruncher's idea for a brown Ssi-Ruu and think it has some great roleplay potential. The player mentioned being a red skinned one though if they chose to play the species.
Regarding the though that a brown Ssi-Ruu would never think it had any chance at gaining any standing with its people: I did notice one of the major Ssi-Ruuk from the novels was a brown skinned individual that achieved a pretty prominent position.

Firwirrung was an entechment chief and apparently had quite the gift when it came to the entechment technology.
I concur with them maybe not getting a bite attack just because they have the teeth for it (because Trandoshans, also, clearly have the teeth for it), but I would give them statistical claws, because why not? Chances are they are they won't ever use them anyway unless they're out of weapons, but I think the race should have them.
Everything else looks good to me.
