I assume yes, and this would be why "hitting something that small" was hard for the Rebel Pilots to do with the exhaust port, and why bullseye'ing Womp Rats was so impressive.

Edited by GrimmshadeYes. It's typically Difficulty 4 to hit Silhouette 1 targets if you're in a ship of Silhouette 4 and Difficulty 5 for Silhouette 5+. Still, you can hit from ranges that are beyond personal scale with even Close range weapons at this Difficulty. Fighters can hit people with Difficulty 3.
If you really want to kill people (or other Silhouette 1 targets), get an Auto-Blaster on a speeder bike.

I remember a thread from awhile ago where a group flew their ship into another ships hangar and just pink-misted everyone there.
Keep in mind the size of the gun itself. Depending on its max distance, it should be able to hit smaller targets at closer range with greater ease. Bigger guns are meant to hit bigger things at greater distance. Difficulty that spaghetti through the roof!
As for the pink-mist group, keep in mind the scaling damage done. A ship gun, regardless of size, would pretty much obliterate anything it hits that isn't another vehicle. On the other hand, a handheld blaster might leave a slight blaster score on the hull of a ship. Maybe. Most likely, only crits would actually do anything.
I did see a suggestion in the book that if you want to have starships firing at players on the ground its better to give the starship weapons a big critical bonus (+50% if i recall), and/or give them a blast quality equal to the damage. I do so love the cinimatic feel of the huge explosion just behind the heroes causing them to fly through the air and land in a heap significantly worse for wear. Gives that great 'oh crap' look to your players that Obi-Wan had when Slave-I took off and Boba started blasting away at him.
However I would note that if your players start pink-misting everything too much give the baddies a rocket or two, maybe a thermal detonator. Funny how breach works wonders on those starships. Or my personal favorite, if the players are in a confined space like that hanger have some of the baddies start boarding. Funny how one attack a round stops adding up when 12 minons charge your ship.
I do wish they had better rules regarding the size differences between players, vehicles, and starships. It seems to be an issue that plagues alot of game systems now a days.
Edited by LiberitonI'd think that an auto-blaster with no proper targeting computer, just attached to a speeder bike and aiming wherever it's going, should still base off range rather than silhouette, but I guess that's me.

There's nothing to suggest that installing planetary scale weapons on vehicles doesn't include the necessary targeting systems to use them at the range given for the weapon (planetary Close in this case).
Fair point. Since I'm afb and its been a while since I looked in it I cannot recall if the speeder bikes a la RotJ have vehicle or personal scale weapons... and also, auto-blasters on those bikes would probably fit silhouette vice, but I'd still wonder about planetary range bands... but of course, there's probably nothing in the rules as such that would stop players/GMs from doing it that way. I'd probably consider making some changes for my game though.
Note that the speeder bike in the core rulebook has Sensor Range: Close, so there's definitely a targeting system to integrate with the weapon.OTOH, the swoop in the core rulebook has Sensor Range: None, so it likely isn't going to be able to pull off the same trick.

That was my group!
They were flying their shuttle which is size 3, and they used the autoblaster (damage 3, Auto) on the front of it. Ship scale damage is X10, so quite worth the difficulty.
Their ship is The Venture; (I recommend all of this guy's products, MSG me if you have questions.)

The ship is approximately a YT-1930, with the front cockpit being a break away shuttle\escape pod. To make it fit game specs, the shuttle is pretty crappy, but it can go from orbit to planet side. I allowed it only one hardpoint for the autoblaster or something benign (mapping sensors?) When they flew into the hanger bay, they got raked by a turret laser, causing a crit and heavy damage.
Then the mist happened. Few things recover after being categorized as mist.
