Taking Notes and Penalty Guidline

By Kyle Edwards, in UFS Rules Q & A

Are there any policies on taking notes during a game? If so, what about using outside notes?

Is there a penalty guidline, and is there a document on tournament rules. When I say "tournament rules" I mean somthing other than "game rules". Such as taking notes, penalty guidlines, definitions of shuffling and cutting a deck, etc.

Taking notes during the game is legal, marking cards etc, is not. Penalties are at the judges discression, but ussually MTG rules are somewhat used as a guideline for that.

I realize that rome wasn't built in a day, but this should be top priority. They need to set a good foundation before they start having new players join the ranks and only get confused because there is no universal system for the rules etc. I am only trying to help.

Kyle,

There is a 12,000 word rules document currently in the hands of FFG's graphics deparment that theoretically should be published by Friday.

You aren't helping. You are being beligerant, aggressive, and antagonistic.

UFS is not Magic. We don't have major cash prizes. The player base as a whole is much more relaxed.

You are absolutely correct that having all of the documentation you are requesting is essential. However it does not write itself.

In your other thread, you're refusing read the documentation that is available.

I can tell you right now, you are not going to be satisfied with the document when it is released. All it covers is game rules. It does not cover tournament floor rules. Those are being broken out into a separate document.

You have expressed your disatisfaction through 8 threads in two weeks expressing almost exactly the same sentiment in each thread.

To be honest, you're tolling. You have already been told that if you are going to complain about FFG the rules Q&A is NOT the place to do it. This is for questions, and answers. This is not a place to get on your soapbox and wave your flag.

If you want to complain, and get FFG's direct response, the person currently handling emails is Erik Lind:

[email protected]

Otherwise all you're doing is telling volunteers, and other players "This is the way it should be." By and large the folks answering these threads have limited power to change anything.
