Sensor Jammer vs Focus

By mishari26, in X-Wing Rules Questions

So.. we're not sure how Sensor Jammer works..

If the attacker rolls 2 hits and 1 eye, and the attacker has a focus token,

which comes first? the focusing by the attacker? or the Jammer effect? does the defender wait for the attacker to focus then use the jammer to flip one hit back to an eye? getting 2 hits and 1 eye.

or can the attacker wait for the defender to jam.. make the result 1 hit and 2 eyes, then the attacker focuses to get 3 hits?

The answer is in the rules booklet, page 11. Under 3. Modify Attack Dice, second paragraph it says that the defender gets to modify attack dice before the attacker does.

So the defender would use the Sensor Jammer to change a hit to a focus before the attacker spends his focus token to change them to hits.

The converse is also true when rolling agility dice - the attacker gets to modify them before the defender does.

Also, the changed die cannot be re-rolled with a target lock.

Newbie here so excuse the ignorance; why can't the dice be rerolled with a target lock?

I thought the rulebook only forbids the re-rolling of a dice twice. I didn't see anything restricting re-rolling a modified dice.

Sensor Jammer itself specifies the die cannot be rerolled.

Well it says the attacker cannot reroll the changed die. Technically it doesn't say the defender can't...

Sorry, just causing trouble. :D
