Who has the best stand alone ability?

No mention yet of Jan Ors, amazing ability. You can put an extra attack dice where it will do the most damage.

OK, it's on a HWK.. but ignoring the ship, cost etc. Just looking at the ability, one of the better ones in the game

I think it's fair to consider ability with the given ship and point cost. I originally suggested not considering EPTs and such since they're not inherent to the pilot. Certainly Tycho begs for PtL but his being in an A-wing I'm sure affects it. Fel's ability in the TIE/Int is especially dangerous.

Jan Ors is good but I find shedding the stress on such a cramped dial makes it hard to use as much as you'd like. Agree or disagree is fair enough. But on that note, would you rather have an ability that makes a big impact a few times a game or one that can be used regularly throughout?

I was under the assumption that we were talking about stand alone abilities, Jan's requires at least one other ship around. It's certainly one of the better ones otherwise. Costwise Jan isn't bad either and the attack isn't so bad when you consider she's basically rolling two attack dice a turn, only one goes onto another ship boosting it to a three or four meaning it'll be harder to dodge.

Honorable mention: Han, Nightbeast, Dark Curse, Tycho, Turr.

Notice that most of the "best" are something like "extra actions".

I took stand alone to mean the ability indepedant entirely of the ship it's on and any upgrades it could take.

With that definition Jans ability is good no matter what is in your force. Ibitsim, Tycho and Fels ability doesn't entirely work without putting certain upgrades so probably are not the best. Vader and Wedge are great no matter what you have on the ship or in your force

Tycho and Fell are definitely not at the top of their game without stressful upgrades, I think Ib can wing it though given how many red's are on her dial.

I don't have the B-wing yet, but Ibtisam's ability to re-roll 1 dice with every attack or defence (when stressed) sounds very good. Presumably this works really well when K-turning to get into a good close firing solution, perhaps in concert with advanced sensors, or with PTL.

What about Ten Numb? I imagine that flying around with a guaranteed critical on any ship without an evade token is pretty powerful.
