New to the game. Had a question about overlapping ships.

It was the beginning of the round and my lowest ranked tie fighter was going to end up where my higher ranked tie fighter currently sat. The ships would not be touching after the higher ranked tie fighter moved in the same round. Can I wait to move the first ship or should I have just planned better?

You should have planned better.

What you are experiencing is one of the big reasons you normally see the lower pilot level (PL) ships in front of more skilled pilots. This allows the low PLs to "clear out" before the high level pilots move into the spaces the other ships just left. This is actually one of the ways high PLs have a movement advantage over low PLs in that you can often plan to fly your ship into a spot that someone else just left.
