My reading of the range rule varies from what I would expect. The rule refers to the squares "between" the hero and the target. So if the hero is in a straight line to its target and there are three empty squares between them, the range is three. To me, a range of three would mean the arrow falls in the square just in front of the target, to hit the target, the arrow would have to go one more square, into the one occupied by the target, so the range would be four. Either really is fine, but I would like to do it as the rules intend.
Very basic range question
The wording is (p. 12) :
" count the number of spaces to the target space. This number is the distance between the spaces."
The expression "between" is preceded by the expression " to the target space" (which, IMO, includes the target space). So the distance between attacker and target is equal to the number of spaces between them plus the targeted space.
In fact, I don't know of any game which counts range differently.
Thanks, that's how I would have read it too.
