Future releases

By Quendil, in X-Wing

After wave 3 there is a shortage of ships and this has lead to som pretty creative speculation.

My idea or my theory is that we will see three things in the future.

1

Mission packs

The strong side of the game is missions, and more of these will keep the game living.

Different play styles might also cause ppl to buy new ships that they did not consider otherwise.

(keep buying ships)

2

Multi-ship boxes.

We se this in imp. aces, but I think we will se more and bigger boxes.

-Buy a tie swarm or a squardon of x-wings

This might not include more named pilots....

3 (a mixture)

Scenario-packs with ships

Recreate, eg, attack on the first deathstar. Box contains some more ties, 2 x-wings + 2 y-wings + 5 scenarios.

I don't see them diversifying the product line that much. Production is getting caught up, but not quite to the level to support that many different options in the product line. I'm sure we will get more "Aces" like packs for the movie ships, along with more of the capital ships, along with the standard 4 ship waves.

And while I'm not sure how much they are going to expand on the "cinematic play" campaigns, I have a sneaking suspicion they will expand it by including more campaigns with ships. There was little reason to include the stuff in the Aces pack with repaints.

I also don't think they're probably going to add more content without adding more ships. I think the answer to "are we going to see refreshed meta for previous ships in the future?" was "yes, but while also adding more ships to the equation".

Though the idea of multiple ships in a pack (ex. Vader's Advanced and Luke's X-Wing; Y-Wing and a B-Wing, etc.) I could see being the case. I think Interceptors make sense for doubles, but I don't know that they all have to be that way.

I see planetary combat next. No ground troops, but mission style protect the castle game play. Incouding at-at and at-st options. And turrets replacing asteroids.
