when FFG says that the Y-Wing is "updated" does that mean the there are changes to the cards? would i need to buy new stuff? or am i being stupid? new to all this :]

I bought one y-wing last week in france, it is a reprint as they change the color of the background planet in the package. I will open it tomorrow and I will let you know if I notice any changes.

I don't think there has been any errata on cards included with the Y-Wings. If there are any updates, they would be minor wording. You don't need to buy replacements, just: more more more more more more.

If you are referring to the upcoming page then "updated" simply means they recently changed the status from, for example, "at the factory" to "on the boat".
