Jesus christ, you should get arrested for public indecency.
Did you pose for the picture, or did you just happen to be able to photoshop yourself?
Which player and from where is going to win Can Nats09?

i'd say both of them.

Both. The picture's on my photobucket and was taken under extreme inebriation. And then I photoshopped it into the image macro. Photoshop is a weapon.
That picture is just....words don't quite do justice for the terror I feel.
As for who will win, Jeremy Ray is due.
If I get my stuff together and can go, I'll be gunning for it.
Bittner is also due a card, so I'd look for him to perform well.
As for Canadians who I would pick to take it, Kin is always top notch, Shajir can light it up, and the Foxhound guys I've met are all fairly capable I'd say.
My Dark Horse pick for the whole thing...

Agreed. I stole the first game and then it went to time. He could easily take it. Good choice that.
With all due respect to a) The Americans, B) People who already have a card
I'd like a Canadian without his/her face on a card to win. Shajir, I'm looking at you.

not to displace everyone who is supporting me to win this thing but I neverrr win singles events, top cut? Sure! Win? neverevereverver.
I can't make too many bold predictions about who will win it because I dont wish to slight anybody, but I do think it will be a player from a established playgroup, not a dark horse.(danny is from a established playgroup so I dont consider him a darkhorse at all)

Meh we're all expecting Herr to take it again, honestly. It'd suck if that was the case (because the only Canadian on a singles card doesn't play anymore), but hey life goes on.

to be fair the day before our regionals was my last day of college....i was in no way in the right mind set to play...
to be honest, anyone could win any championship at any given time provided they are trying their best and have a good deck going. If we all just turn and just point at the established players (which entails those people with faces on cards and those with high amounts of top 8s) to win, then a good amount of us are really wasting our time.
By no means am I saying this thread is bad. There's no problem with predictions, as that's all they are-predictions. I only warn against falling into the habit of EXPECTING only the well-known established players to win the major tournaments.

Predicting suprise winners is fun, at worlds 07 the meta was so open I felt sure a darkhorse would take it(which me and andrew both pretty much were at that point) and they did, because of how wide open the meta was. When the meta is like it is now (limited number of dominant symbols/chars) it's much harder to be suprised by a relative unknown, not impossible, but difficult. The best players will likely be playing the best symbols, andthe best symbols in a relatively tight meta are very defined(Air, Order in the present) and the viable decks off of other symbols are usually defined by the char, not the symbol(Alex, Akuma, Sakura) so everything is fairly predectable.
Set 12 should open things up a bit, but I still think the meta will be fairly defined, therefore making a suprise player a more unlikely scenario.

Personally, I think this may create a silver bullet scenario. The best players are the best players. You can't attack on that sense, so if you can't attack the player, you must attack the deck.
While Air and Order will still be awesome, Set 12 throws a monkey wrench in that it's a whole new development philosophy, one that may create strategies that are unheard of in UFS, and ones that assume you will be facing those symbols, diminishing their efficiency or outright neutering it altogether.
Then again I haven't seen much of Set 12 but it looks like I'll be buying lots of both as soon as I get the cash.

Believe me when I say!!!!!

Yeah right
Jeremy Ray fails at PotM.
HE BETTER TAKE CAN NATS!!!
He's already getting a present from Chubbs for losing to Jon Herr, who claims he wants to avoid Chubbs at all costs.
This is gonna be INTERESTING at NATS!!

I personally doubt he will.
I personally doubt anyone of you guys will take it, and neither will I. I'd say Shajir has a chance due to home field advantage and chainsmoking powers which he developed in an old chinese monastery right outside Oshawa.
It's true, we passed by it when we went down there.
But seriously, at this current point in time, it'll depend more on the tournament make-up than anything else. Jon Herr has a chance due to being Jon Herr and so does any well-known player with the exceptions of those who are well-known for their online stupidity rather than their ability at playing cards. Which kinda eliminates Team Phail (any subdivision) from the running.
Just for verification purposes there will be a character card for the winner of the event correct. I dont see anyone mentioning it and if so is there a player cap minimume for that to happen?
I will win Can Nats 2009!
I am from Team Phail, Montréal!
And i will phail at phaling to make to 8!
any questions?

Non-believer, eh? If Jeremy Ray wins then you're gonna get a present from Chubbs whenever you meet him next. Yes buddy, prepare the yogurt. It's gonna be a looooooong ride home.
And I don't believe in the home field advantage. I never understood that. It means nothing to Michigan or Ohio as they infiltrate other ppls playgroups and pillage their earthmunnies
