Timing of Scoring Agendas as the Corp

By Maliseraph, in Android: Netrunner Rules Questions

1) Is there a window to score agenda at the beginning of your turn before you draw?

2) Can you score agenda in the middle of an Accelerated Diagnostics string, or must you wait until that Accelerated Diagnostics string is finished?

Example A:

1st Action: Power Shutdown

2nd Action: Play and use Jackson Howard.

3rd Action: Accelerated Diagnostics:

Sub A: Interns to install Breaking News

Sub B: Shipment from San-San

(Score)

Sub C: Scorched Earth

Example B

(Jackson Howard already in play)

Action 1: Power Shutdown

(Use Jackson Howard)

Action 2: Accelerated Diagnostics

Sub A: Interns to install Breaking News

Sub B: Shipment from San-San

Sub C: Interns to install Jackson Howard

(Score Breaking News and use Jackson Howard)

Action 3: Accelerated Diagnostics:

Sub D: Scorched Earth

Sub E: Neural EMP

Sub F: Neural EMP

1) Is there a window to score agenda at the beginning of your turn before you draw?

Yes, according to the timing diagram in the FAQ the Corp can score Agendas at the very start of their turn or just before/after taking their actions.

but not while an action is resolving

You do realize that Jackson Howard shuffles cards from archives into R&D?

It´s just that the way you describe it sounds as though you believe he places 3 cards on top of R&D.

EDIT: ah I see it now. You wish to trash all of R&D with Power Shutdown. That tactic is still dependent on the 3 cards being shuffled into the new R&D coming out in the right order (which is roughly 16,67% for example A and 66,67% for example B).

Example A isn´t viable since it is also dependent on scoring mid-action, which you can´t.

Example B seems like it would be viable. Though you would need to put all your influence towards it.

As ever, consult the timing sheet.

There is indeed a window to score an agenda before your mandatory draw, or before your first action (or after any action).

However, there is no window to score during the resolution of a click, so you must wait until Accelerated Diagnostics is finished resolving.

I thought so, but I wanted to check that I wasn't misinterpreting .

Thanks guys.

Also, I think you're allowed to choose the order in which you resolve Accelerated Diagnostics, as "Look at the top three cards of R&D." is a separate sentence from the next. Am I wrong?

That was painful, but enlightening. I think there's an easier way to state all that.

If I understand the explanation of Accelerated Diagnostics (AD) correctly, it can be summed up this way:

A) You choose the order in which you play the AD cards.

B) If you cause an effect that moves one of the cards away from being in the top 3 cards of R&D it becomes unmarked by AD.

C) If you reshuffle in the midst of an AD, that satisfies clause B, and you do not check to see if the 1 or 2 cards miraculously ended up on top of R&D.

That seems pretty spot on to how I've understood those rulings too :)
