So this came up at the Shwa regionals. When you play an Infinity card (Olcadan's and Seals) you declare what symbol you're playing them off of. Now my question is, do they retain that symbol in the staging area?
Infinity Cards in the staging area vs Manifest Destiny
it would keep the symbol
Long as it stays in play the resource is retained.
i thought i read somewhere that manifest destiny cannot commit an infinity card...mind you i didnt agree with it when i read it, but i thought i read it somewhere.
It is not directly asked or answered so ill ask it,
I play olcadans, naming say death. End turn. It goes to my staging area. My opponent plays a card triggering his manifest destiny, he may commit my olcadans correct? (i know committing my olcadans on his turn is really good)
if the card he played has death.
once olcadons hit the card pool, or any other in play zone, you define a symbol. it has that symbol until it goes to an out of play zone.
the resource for an infinity card being played has to be announced before you attempt to play it (before CC, etc).
once it enters play (card pool, staging area) it has that resource until it leaves.
From the forthcoming Advanced Game Rules:
11.13.1 Before a player plays or puts a card with the infinity symbol into play they choose one of the other twelve resource symbols, the infinity symbol is that symbol as long as the card is in play.
Not that they need them... but stamps for Zeph, Tag, & Omar.
does this mean that if you play an infinity card the next turn with the first one still in play it has to be the same symbol?

No, it is card specific.
