Partial Spoiler alert! Rebel Transport Expansion Pack

By The_Brown_Bomber, in X-Wing

read all this earlir today when they first posted on fb, i downloaded each image and rotated it in photoshop lol. Good read. Im very excited to see how the energy works. Also the ability to plow thru ties and crush them is gonna be interesting and really make the empire take advantage of their barrel roll actions. The two damage decks seem cool as well.

Did anyone else notice 6 new x-wing pilots but only 1 transport pilot?

That is odd, you'd expect at the least one unique and one generic. Maybe they couldn't find anyone that commanded a transport that wasn't better suited to a crew card?

I hope we at least get Captain Antilles for the blockade runner.

Even though he wasn't a pilot of this thing, I want an Admiral Ackbar to appear at some point in this game's lifetime.

I'm still holding out hope that, while a full Star destroyer, and by extension, the similarly sized home one, is impossible at this scale, that we'll get some sort of three foot long "edge piece" to place on one side of the board to represent the huge ships with commander cards for them, thus giving us Ackbar, Tarken, Thrawn, and the rest (Here on Gilligan's Isle).

Thanks for the right-side-up link. My neck started hurting from me twisting almost upside down to try and read the original...

Does anyone have info on what the new x-wing pilots abilities might be?

Cool!! I think the new upgrade card type is "cargo" ... and is possibly related in a nagative way to the huge ships' damage decks.

Finally some news !

I'm very impatient to get more details. I hope I will find a way to integrate this in my Squadrons builder (http://fabpsb.free.fr) !! I cross my fingers.

As far a i can make it there is only one pilot with EPT.

There are 2 pilots (PS7 and PS4) with 3 upgrade icons, I can't imagine what else the third would be.

hm ... really hard to tell ... PS4 Rouge Squadron pilot with EPT ?

BUT ... who of you remembers how it is like in X-Wing computer games while on an escort mission? You constantly shot incoming proton torpedos! Is this the reason why there are Proton Torp 'flight base' markers?.

Can you target the bigger ships from a greater distance and fire the protons from across the board? And you move the Proton Torp shots just like fighters using the templates?

Different damage card decks for front and aft section? wow

A 'Slicer Tool' to convert stress in damage? Whats a 'Slicer Tool'?

It's probably an upgrade card. Wouldn't be surprised if it's a System upgrade, and not exclusive to these big ships.

And in case you don't know, in the Star Wars universe a "slicer" is a person who is a computer hacker.

They could also be turbolaser shots, heavy duty weapons that have a travel time compared to snub fighter level weapons. Then you'd have the task of avoiding them manually.

Turbo laser shots dont look like Proton Torpedo shots. Take a closer look - its 2 x Advanced Proton Torpedo and 3 x Proton Torpedo.

And so hackers do do damage on stressed Tie Fighters? Does this make any sense?

Makes about as much sense as the Saboteur. But in this case I think you'll be converting your own stress into your own damage.

One generic card is fine, since it looks like there are tons of options. It looks like they're handling this the way they might have handled small ships -- a generic X-Wing card with a "pilot" Upgrade slot if you want a named dude with a special ability.

I can see why they didn't do that with the small ships, basically skipping the step of combining pilot with generic ship for you. They could've done the same with these Huge ships, but I'd bet that Captains/Commanders will be unique Crew upgrade cards with a "Captain/Commander" tag to remind you that you're limited to one per ship. It should be possible to swap the captains of the Transport and Tantive IV, which seems much easier to design/test/balance than having tons of unique starfighter pilots able to jump into lots of different kinds of ships.

I really like how they handled the pilots if this is the case, very clever. I cannot wait to get a few of these.

Must have. Cant wait for this one.

thematically it does sort of make sense - it like when the Falcon had its hyperdrive dissabled. Its assuming that hackers have already tinkered with ur ship and now in the heat of battle u r just finding out :( kinda powerful but then again stress is easily removed so pilot skill will come into play perhaps as high PS skill ships with 'slicer' attacks will not find many ships with stress whereas low PS pilots definitely will.

I would imagine the 'Torpedo' tokens are the ION CANNON shots from Hoth coverign the Transport and escorts mad dash into space from the planet...

The shots from the movie looked like that if i recall correctly AND would fit nicely with an escape Hoth scenario... :D

The 'slicing' stress into dammage for enemy ships makes me think a bit that it would be easier to hack into enemy stressed out ships with their systems, being wel stressed out, making easier targets as to overload them into going offline, rebooting, sorting out etc?

Also kind of like the 3 foot edge of hull huge Home One to place on table edges idea :D I really do want to make fish noises and whout 'ITS A THWRAP!!!' constantly durign my big games :D

Could even have dockingbay area's on the template to launch and land!! :D

I think there are at least three possibilities for how they'll implement crew/upgrade rules for Huge ships:

1. Just like any other crew upgrade slot, no special restrictive "Commander" tags or anything like that. Just an ordinary crew card.

2. Just like any other crew upgrade slot, but with a special restrictive "Commander" tag or something that limits you to one per ship. I think this one is most consistent with the way modification and title upgrades have been handled.

3. A whole new category of upgrades called Commander or Command Crew or something.

That would be very cool. Hopefully we'll find out one way or another shortly!

Here are the unique X-Wing pilots

Tarn Mison - PS 3, Hobbie Klivian PS 5, Jek Porkins PS 7 ept, Wes Janson PS 8 ept.

I scanned the two page article and the back advertisement. https://www.dropbox.com/s/em791c9h6re5ey4/GTM%20Large%20Ships_0001.pdf

A PS3 unique? :D ... and Porkins has PS7?? ... wow ... I want to know their abilities

Would you provide us an even better scan on the pilot cards? :)

All I can see Porkins has a [hit] icon in the ability text...

That is the highest resolution I can scan too. The photo on the back is not clear. Even with a magnifying glass I cannot tell what the abilities are.
