What is the best way to find a Vassal game?

By Armand451, in X-Wing Organized Play

Hello all,

The question is pretty much as it says it all. What is the best way to find an opponent to play X Wing against through Vassal. Is this the best forum? Are there other forums that are better? Thanks all!

Team Covenant is the hub of X-Wing Vassal play. You'll find the top X-wing players in the game regularly there including the previous and current FFG world champions. There is currently a Vassal tournament there with 71 players.

Thanks!

I missed this tournament. Is there any way to know when they're going to start one up, or other tournaments on vassal?

mr froggies or Theorist regularly post new tournament start dates. Just keep checking the forums regularly.

I assume you're talking about these forums, right? I couldn't find forums on team covenants page (I really looked, I swear, if they're there). In the organized play section here?

Thanks for the reply.

They'll post tournament info on the main page at Team Covenant as a new blog intry. Just sign up at TC and you'll be set. I will say however, that the current tournament will probably last until Feb. given the size and format so the next one won't be for awhile. Especially since Feb. - March will be Store Championship season in real life. But there is always plenty of players on Vassal. I never have trouble getting games later at night when I'm on.

The first rule of Vassal is you do not talk about Vassal.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised to see this tournament run longer - the current round got extended to the 7th of January or something to make room for some of the stragglers having trouble fitting their games in around the holidays.

Then Theorist has to tally everything up, determine who makes the cut and the standings going into the elimination rounds, and assuming we'll have 32 players or whatever (I forget the exact number stated), that would be a round of 32, a round of 16, a round of 8, a round of 4, and the final 2, and even if each round is only a week once the holidays are done that's another 5-6 weeks out. :P

Holy cow. That's a long tourney.
